Located in Barroselas, 27 miles from Póvoa de Varzim, Casas de Massinos provides a garden and free WiFi. This place comes close to perfection for us. An old house remodeled into a comfortable holiday house with a super nice kitchen, large bedrooms and spacious outside areas to relax. An amazing large and spacious place with a super nice terrace and everything we needed to have a very relaxing and peaceful holiday.
Located in Barroselas, 26 miles from Póvoa de Varzim, Quinta do Bravio has a garden and free WiFi. This is truly exceptional for the price. Beautiful small solar with lovely chapel. The rooms have been recently renovated and our king bed was extremely comfortable. The aesthetic was simple and peaceful which highlights the great old bones of this beautiful property. The shower had great water pressure. Wifi worked fine. The wine made from the grapes produced on the property was very refreshing. Our host was very gracious but never intrusive. We stayed here after a red-eye flight into Porto and it was wonderfully rejuvenating.
In the main house, the distribution of space is both functional and welcoming, with spacious rooms and public areas: 11 guest rooms(1 single room, 1 apartment suitable for disabled guest, and 9 double... this is a wonderful place to stay. there is a large pool and also billiards and ping pong. the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Surrounded by vineyard and forests, this charming, rustic guest house offers chic accommodations in a peaceful, rural setting. The nearest beaches are just 10 minutes away. This is an exceptional place in every way. We stayed in the Fountain apartment and my daughter and her family were in the Bouganvillea apartment. They were both lovely, so comfortable, in a beautifully renovated historic building, very tastefully appointed with lots of thoughtful additions (like fresh oranges every day with a juicer in the kitchenette). The owner, Joao, and his staff were very personable. We particularly appreciated Catalina who went to the trouble to obtain birthday pastries as a surprise for our family member when she discovered he was having a birthday during our stay. She was delightful. We got massages from a local masseuse arranged by Catalina; they were very good! Catalina also recommended an excellent restaurant for our final night. The Quinta provides breakfast baskets each morning which were plentiful and delicious. We were unfamiliar with the area (and kind of ended up there by mistake, thinking we were a bit closer to the Duoro Valley) but we were pleasantly surprised to find a fun town (Vitelli de Castelo), historic sights (the oldest town in Portugal) and fantastic beaches within close proximity. The beaches really were spectacular, very natural and untouched by development (no big hotels lining the coast), with boardwalks built through the natural areas which are great for strolling. Catalina can tell you where to go! While this seems to be an area frequented by Portuguese, Americans don’t seem to know about it (partly because it is only accessible by car and so doesn’t appear in guide books like Rick Steves). And, by the way, the temperature was fantastic — 70’s and maybe low 80’s in the middle of August. But the centerpiece of the trip for us was the lovely Quinta da Bouca d’Argues. We will be returning.
