Loved the sea pools, with cafe for after swim drinks. and the peaceful evening walks. Easy to catch a bus further afield. Harder to get to levada walks than I expected, and I would avoid the ones that come back down steep hills to coast - rough and dangerous surfaces

This is not a sand beach vacation.
This is not a sand beach vacation. There are tidal pools to swim in if the weather cooperates. Be aware that the north side of the island is cooler and more likely to rain. We enjoyed our 2 night stay by the ocean but that was enough

Very good base to explore north-west side of the island
Very good base to explore north-west side of the island
Nice option if you want to cool down in the pool-there are actually 2 spots with ocean water, one more natural than the other, both can have better tourism services and catering options

A beautiful little town with the most beautiful swimming in Madeira in natural pools with sea water and sea fish. Protected from the waves and great for bathing and swimming, in a beautiful wild nature surrounded by rocks. Everything is close by car, the most beautiful levadas, the Fanal forest. Really spend more days.

We were driving around Madeira Island for 8 days & Porto Moniz was 1 of the most scenic area, beautiful rocky formations with the natural pools. We only stayed overnight, but wished we could have spent more time here, experience swimming the natural pools. Beautiful instamagramable picturisque views. We highly recommend Porto Moniz.

Porto Moniz is a tourist town in the far north of Madeira.
Porto Moniz is a tourist town in the far north of Madeira.
the ocean view is amazing.
The city has both natural and paid natural pools, where the only option is to swim.
if you are a fish lover, there are really many good restaurants in this city.
for us, the tastiest fish was Espada.
It is also a great place to visit the Fanal forest, the Telegrafico gondola and the Rabacal area.
for us, who are fans of bends, steep roads, beautiful nature and of course the sea, this part of the island was the most beautiful.
This amazing house is on top of a hill near Porto Moniz. We were welcomed by a clean, tidy and modern house with a breathtaking view on the balcony. The rooms were on the ground floor which also had balconies with a sea facing view. The house is very huge and we had the whole property for ourselves. We had a great time during our stay. The place is half an hour drive from Seixal Beach, Reibera Da Janela, Ponta da Ladeira etc. I would always recommend this stay.
This was the definetly the best stay of our Madeira trip (out of 3 accomodations). The hosting family made us feel like at home and even gave us a ride to one of the levadas! It was also great talking to them about life on Madeira. There is nothing I would change about the apartment we got, it had all that we needed. Porto Moniz is an amazing and quiet village and if you want to have a really pleasurable stay, Costa Azul is a great choice.
Casa das Escaleiras offers a truly exceptional 180° ocean view and is located in a privileged position overlooking the lovely town of Porto Moniz. It's a modern house totally rebuilt instead of an old dwelling, whose nude stone walls have been integrated cleverly into the cosy bedroom with wooden ceiling. The house is fully equipped (even a separate barbecue room and a swimming pool are awaiting you) and uses solar energy.
We loved the location of the hotel, with all the restaurants around plus in a close proximity of the ocean. You can open your window and listen to the powerful sounds of waves breaking on the coast.
Both the natural and paid pools are close by for you to enjoy.
If we were to come to Porto Moniz again, this hotel would be a first choice on our accommodation list.
The reception was very helpful and friendly! Thank you!
The hotel room with side seaview and balcony was very clean and has a nice view of the sea and mountains.
P.S. Porto Moniz is nice town, however it´s far away from many main sightseeing places. We stayed here for 4 nights and explored this area. The other 10 nights in our vacation we stayed in Funchal.
The location is just great because you have the sea 50m outside the entrance. Porto Moniz is very small so you can walk to the end of the promenade within like 5-10 minutes. We got a room with "mountain view" but it's actually a balcony that has the mountain view to your right and the sea view to the left. The bathroom and shower were nice.
Terrific place, spacious, well equipped and maintained. Outdoor area was fantastic, nicely landscaped and lit at night. Tastefully decorated, absolutely lovely and close to all amenities. The sea is a few minutes walk and the grocery store almost next door. Clearly the best part of our two weeks in Madeira.
Staff members were absolutely amazing , very helpful ;
Free use of lava pools, and other Aqua Natura Hotels;
Very new, comfy and beautiful studios , room 110 is huge!
Perfect value;
Nice fruits for breakfast;
Coffee machine in room was lovely ;
Awesome holiday would love to come back and stay there!
the only thing we liked was the staff, it was very cheap so we basically had no expectations.
If you want to safe some money and just enjoy the beautiful island of madeira this place is perfect. If you want a quality hotel go somewhere else and pay more
Great hotel, perfect location. Nice breakfast in the nearby hotel 1 min walk. Jacuzzi on the roof, massages etc in the nearby sister hotel . Even has a little kitchen inside the rooms so you can cook a small meal, have tea/coffee. We had a great time.
It is a good location to explore the north of Madeira. Some shops and restaurants are available close to the apartments. We really liked the garden and the shared living room. Nice to have breakfast. Good value for money.
Perfect location, quiet neighborhood, 5 min walk to the natural swimming pools, the house was spotless and the owners really nice and helpful. Would highly recommend staying at Porto Moniz Villa to everyone
Very nice place with a great host always available.
Room was very clean and perfect location right in front of the natural swimming pool.
Nice breakfast in the morning with bread, eggs and ham.
We absolutely loved our stay. The view from the balcony was just amazing. The rooms are really clean and the level of customer service was exceptional. One of favorite hotels of the trip.
Charming little village near Porto Moniz, everything's close. Spectacular view from the window, cozy apartment and lovely host. We enjoyed our stay there
