Hotel in Santo da Serra
Surrounded by mountains and lush green gardens, you will find the inn in the rustic area of Santo da Serra. I was extremely well looked after, it was on a regular bus route to Funchal, it was spotlessly clean, it’s close to a beautiful levada walk from Ribiero Frio, it has a good restaurant, it was good value, and all village facilities are nearby.
Santo da Serra
Quinta Santo Antonio Da Serra is situated in the Madeira countryside, only 18 km from Funchal. All of the self contained apartments have a real wood fireplace and a balcony. This was such a charming apartment! The grounds were beautiful, the beds were very comfortable, and having both a huge bathtub and a fireplace was super on a cold and misty night. The owners were wonderful and gave us a great recommendation for dinner in the village. The village is tiny but there is a stall not far from the hotel gates where you can get fresh bolo da coca bread every day - the man who makes it there is a lovely gent. We really loved our stay here and would come again. It was also great that within 15 minutes we were down the mountainside and at the airport checking in. Bonus!

Quinta do Pantano is a place where you can enjoy true peace and quiet. After long days of sightseeing, we appreciated the relaxing evenings spent by the fireplace. Having a fresh fruit and bread breakfast while watching the animals pass by our window to graze in the mornings was a highlight of our trip. We also loved spending time with the farm cat Felix! Joana is an extremely kind and helpful host. She showed us around the property and shared lots of great information about the town of Santo da Serra, which is just a short walk from the farm and well worth visiting. This is a wonderful and unique place to stay in a beautiful part of the island - don't miss it!

2nd time we stayed here, first time the weather was great everywhere, this time as the hotel is up in the mountains the weather was worse at the hotel then on other location on the island It's a great spot if you want to avoid crowded places and are there for the hiking experience If you want to go to the beaches and city its not recommended
Santo da Serra is a quiet region with a village, perfect for exploring the mountains and nature. There is a garden with a lot of trees, some animals and places to have a picnic or simply relax in the woods. There are also churches and restaurants with very good local food. If you enjoy playing golf, then the Santo da Serra Golf Course is one of the most beautiful I've seen, with its breath-taking scenery. There is also at least one pharmacy and mini-market near the church, along with a children's public playground (with slides, swings, and other toys for small children to enjoy). You are also only a few minutes (by car) away from the Santa Cruz aquapark, the Airport and Porto da Cruz.
A small cozy town among the mountains. We came here on the way back from Porto Moniz. We felt the local flavor here more than in other tourist cities in Madeira. We liked it here! In the center of the city in front of the church a man bakes a very tasty bread - we advise you to buy this bread!
Santo da Serra provides very comfortable self catering accommodation in a very convenient location for walking. Staff very helpful, bed comfortable, shower amazing and lovely sitting out area. Excellent.
The village is set in the mountains with plenty of local activity, the Sunday market for local farm produce and the restaurants cater for all tastes from basic food to sophisticated "new cuisine". we most liked the "A Quinta" restaurant which has it's own recipes menu rather than an international menu. The best were the Lamb stew and the Cod with cream. Everything is in walking distance (no more than 15mins) there is a public garden which attracts a lot of visitors and the "Bola de Caco" (flat bread) made and sold on the street by a local character that boasts about having participated in a TV soap and other events that he is more than happy to explain as he makes the bread. The 27 hole Golf course is right next door if you like it and there is also a horse riding centre in the village. The people are friendly and very helpful to the visitors.
Santo da Serra is a mountain village, its a busy little place full of locals, but in winter it can be cold. We have stayed here before at this time of year but this year was the coldest. It never got above 14C. Whereas Funchal was mid 20s. The market every Sunday is a good experience and a lot of the people speak English. Food is cheaper here than in the capital, but it is more rustic. there are some very good walks in the area, but it is very steep.
Santo da Serra
It was our first accommodation at Madeira and we were blown away by the friendliness of our hosts. We could check in earlier since we arrived in the morning. All essentials needed were there and I liked the gas oven in the kitched. Bed was gigantic and very comfortable. We were surprised that there was a daily roomservice, which we did not expect at all. The accommodation is situated in a peaceful and quiet garden, but you can still hear the things going on in the village in a distance, which we found nice.
We spent a really wonderful week in this kind Quinta where the staff was amazingly nice and our room was pretty and flawless. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, as was our New Year's Eve dinner. The Quinta'a garden and the whole village of Santo António da serra are also pleasant and calm. Thank you for everything.
Santo da Serra
Excellent accommodation, where your kids can run in garden among animals. Very hard to find on Madeira.
