Hotel Kamanga, hotel in Tomar

Hotel Kamanga is centrally located in Tomar and is 1.5 km from the Templars Castle and the Convent of Christo. The Tomar Train Station is a 10-minute walk away from this 2-star hotel.

The location was really good, walking distance to the centre of Tomar. Our room was a double with en suite. All spotlessly clean. Towels and soap provided. Towels replaced mid week. Breakfast was varied and plenty of coffee etc. again everything was spotlessly clean. Very friendly service. Lift up to bedrooms.

Hotel was right on the center of things to see. Left a day early because it got too crowded. It was a special event that only happens every 4 years. Sunday was just on there about to walk around the streets. Not hotel fault.

Tomar is a very attractive medieval city, seeped in history. The Convento de Christopher towers over the city and well worth a visit. The Central Park is beautiful with its river and trees is a lovely relaxing place. Plenty of restaurants all in walkable distance of each other. Further out of town is a six kilometre aqueduct built in the time of Philip 2nd of Spain. A marvel of medieval engineer.

Tiny small place. Clean bedding. Quiet. 15 minutes walk from center. I had to call a few times to get a reply where the key is. Kitchenette, but: No kettle for tea, no kitchen towel. Onky one mug. No bath mat. Bath towels with bleach stains.

If you take the trouble to walk around Tomar, especially the old town, it is a fascinating place. It has an interesting square where the locals come out to socialise in the evening. There are a goodly number of restaurants, suitable for all budgets.

Beautiful, historical town with massive Templar Castle up the hill. That alone is worth the side trip form Lisbon or Porto. Many groups buses stop for a day but it is a rushed way to experience this place. I think two nights allows for a better immersion into its history. Castle alone takes few good hours, not counting the outdoor area. Great place to slow down and feel the old energy there. Town has plenty of coffee shops and nice eateries. Picturesque river runs right through the middle of town. Totally walkable town with quaint, clean streets with plenty places along the way to stop for a coffee, ice cream or a tasty bite. If you are there on a weekend you might get a chance to get a picture with a Templar knight!

Do not miss the aqueduct on the outskirts of town as you drive in - I've seen quite a few and the only better is the one in Segovia in Spain. This is a double decker that goes for half a mile, in terrific condition. I'm an aqueduct fan and this was worth a trip to Tomar by itself. But there's more: the Templar chapel in the monastery at the top of the hill above the Praca Republica is one of those places where, just when you are beginning to feel like you've seen enough church stuff, you go holy smokes! I've never seen anything like this! The town itself is cozy and warm, and it's worth a walk around to all the different churches and along the river. You can see everything in a day if you don't dawdle.

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese...

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese countryside, Tomar is a captivating town steeped in history and brimming with charm. Renowned for its magnificent Templar Castle and Convent, Tomar offers a captivating blend of medieval enchantment and modern-day allure. The Castelo de Tomar, or Tomar Castle, stands as a testament to the power and influence of the Knights Templar, who established their stronghold in Tomar in the 12th century. This imposing fortress, adorned with intricate carvings and architectural masterpieces, is home to the Convento de Cristo, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. The Convento de Cristo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a labyrinth of grand cloisters, chapels, and chapterhouses, each whispering tales of the Knights Templar's influence. The remarkable Cloister of Silence, with its serene atmosphere and intricate tracery, is a must-see for any visitor to Tomar.

Absolutly fantastic apartment with 2 great outdoor spaces that recieve full sun. Furniture, cooking equipment, and appliances were very good quality and the welcome package and cooking staples were top quality and extensive. Our hosts, John & Dani, made check in easy and were right there for us if we needed them, which we didn't because everything went smoothly. The laundry service was a great addition and the location of the apartment is great for walking, or driving, into Tomar.

This is a great small hostel, with the friendliest and most informative host. The rooms are fine and very clean, the shared kitchen is very well appointed, There is a shared dining/recreational space which is lovely. The town of Tomar is a really special place to visit. The local Spar shop has everything you need for a lovely meal if you don't want to eat out.... We were travelling by motorcycle and the owner locked it in his garage below the hotel for free. ... perfect !

Perfect location, on the main pedestrian street, right in the beautiful center of Tomar. I didn’t really stay at Hotel Cavaleiros but Residencial União which I was offered by the friendly man at the reception (ruled by the same owners, I guess) The building was old and charming, and so was the room, nice, comfortable and quiet, facing rear as requested (good view anyway) Good wifi. Amazing price. Great place!

The hotel is conveniently located in the old center of Tomar. The hotel itself is a very nice building, with a lot of original details from the past. Facilities like bed/bathroom/breakfast are of high quality. But the best thing is the staff. They are very friendly and helpful and real hosts who make you feel welcome and at home. We stayed an extra unplanned night to enjoy their hospitality.

Tomar is a very special place. A must see location for every traveler. The castle of the order of Christ (templars) is one of the most special sites we have ever seen. Hotel Republica is without a doubt the best hotel in town. Very charming, great service. They also arranged our (very good) tour guide and booked us the last table in a fantastic local restaurant. Highly recommended.

Spaceous room with a balcony, close to the city center, nice people as everywhere in Portugal, interesting seasonal fruits for breakfast. Very clean. Free public parking around, however it's tight, not easy to find a place. It's quite a good place to stay for one night if you are planning to go there just for a sleep.
