PortugalThis was a welcome stay whilst visiting Asunción.it’s a 4-star though I would offer 5 star plus for the architecture and attention to detail, the consistency of the food, large rooms, and not least the service.
The place is well air-conditioned during the very hot January days ( hot till end of Feb).
It’s location is on a quiet side street: truly an oasis. It’s close to a very popular cafe (Acá) that also offers some history. There are other small boutiques close by and shopping del Sol is around 10 mins walk away.
Front desk was pleasant and all restaurant staff attentive. The breakfast is served on a tray and is complete: you can add eggs any style. They even made me a frappe coffee on request.
The rooms are large and we tried two rooms over 3 nights, first being around 40 sq.meters. On the last night we tried the suite that is twice as large. We felt the standard was good enough and were a little drowned in the suite. This offers a bath and shower.
Wandering around the hotel I felt a sense of comfort and appreciated all the architectonics.
The pool offered some respite even though biting bugs are ever present. There are bug repellent sprays left on every table so I wasn’t dissuaded from spending some moments there. There are many sitting rooms you can find some serenity and absorb the extraordinary ambiance of this place.
The Ophelia restaurant was wonderful. We ate at least once a day there. The soup ( Sirubi/fish) was full flavoured and well spiced. There is a good choice of dishes to suit almost all tastes and the room service was prompt.
Congratulations to all who worked hard to make this one of the best hotel experiences in all my travels !
I will be recommending Factoria to friends.
The owner is from Argentina and has a similar style in a northern Argentinian province. Perhaps another time .. thank-you :)

A sprawling city that’s worth a day to explore. The old centre lacks any world class sights, but there’s enough to keep you interested. A lot of it was run down and being redeveloped and downright sketchy in places.
Best to stay outside the old town in one of the more modern areas that have eateries and bars. Use a hailing taxi service (Bolt or Uber). They are cheap.

I am planning to stay a few months here but after a week I can tell everyone that this city has a lot to offer, a lot of potential and I do recommend Asuncion . There is public transportation but I always used Bolt. that is like Uber, is safe, unexpensive and quick. There are no too many restaurants and cafeterias in the city center where I am staying, and for sure they need more supermarkets. Palm street is very nice specially during the weekend and holydays. All government buildings are in this area. It is a very old city and many buildings needs complete restauration. There is lot of policemen everywhere and they very polite and they help find any place you are looking for.

The people are nice and the food is good, but there’s really not much to see from a tourist perspective. I think parts of it had been destroyed as a result of wars. I did like the leafy streets in some sections of the city. Otherwise, the city is fairly non-descript.

Charming city to visit.
Charming city to visit. Not much to see unless you like strolling through shopping malls but you can do that back home but very unique place to visit. Nice that none of the tourist attractions charged an entry fee. People are very friendly. I recommend no more than a three day stay.

I had heard good things about Asuncion for livability, cost of living, accepting of expats and safety. I wanted to check it out and this trip gave me the opportunity. The location is very near the Argentine border and easy access. There is quite a large group of expats living there already.

This has got to be the most boring capital city in the world...
This has got to be the most boring capital city in the world. I include Cheyenne, Wyoming in this assessment. There is not much to do or see. Its very hard to find a decent restaurant anywhere and the people in the service industry all sit around and play on their phones rather than actually serve. You don't have to tip there, and you really don't ever feel the need to.

Beautiful old building in an excellent location for sight-seeing. Room very clean, furnishings straightforward but comfortable. Best thing was the staff! Excellent team, everyone warm, welcoming, eager to help and make sure our stay was perfect. Actually we noticed people in Paraguay are generally extremely helpful and kind, and so was the case in our hotel as well.

Small hotel limits the range of foods which will be provided at breakfast but it was very adequate and beautifully presented.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hugo in particular (at Reception) went out of his way to assist at all times.
Building a converted warehouse and deserves accolades for the preservation and refurbishment as a boutique hotel.
