Featuring free WiFi, Cazare Punct pe I offers accommodations in Sighetu Marmaţiei. There is a private bathroom with a bath or shower in each unit. Towels are offered. Very good location, just a couple minutes walk from the centre. Easy parking on the street. Very smooth and easy check-in, even after hours. Spacious room, well equiped kitchen. We have only stayed for one night, so didn't have high needs and this was a perfect choice.
Pension Casa Iurca in Sighetul Marmatiei has a large restaurant and bar that serve traditional Romanian cuisine. Nice staff, the restaurant in the back serves very good traditional food, bed was comfy and big, you get a balcony towards the restaurant, very close the the center(10 min walk), right next to Elie Wiesel house
The charming Vila Royal with its wooden arcade and David's pub on the first floor can be found in the center of Sighetu Marmatiei. It offers free Wi-Fi and free private parking. This was our first hotel experience in Romania after crossing the border from Ukraine. We loved the town of Sighet, Sapanţsa and the Villa Royal hotel. To the owner of Villa Royal...please take note....make sure you never loose Ioana from your staff. She is the most helpful, welcoming and genuinely nice receptionist we have experienced in years of travelling. Hospitality this good hardly ever exists any more. Thanks for everything Ioana! The room was huge, the beds comfortable, the WiFi was good, the shower was hot. Excellent stay.
Set in Sighetu Marmaţiei, 2.7 mi from The Village Museum of Maramures, Pensiunea TAVISA offers accommodations with a bar, free private parking and a garden. Pensiunea Tavisa is situated in a wonderful area, very close to the border. The owner was extremely nice and went out of his way to make our stay there pleasant. From coffee on the house to locally produced alcohol to giving us directions for our way back and suggestions for places to visit, he was the perfect host. Getting to pet the dogs and see the puppies was also a big plus for us :) We will definitely come back in the summer when we can use the pool too.
Located in Sighetu Marmaţiei, 4.3 mi from The Village Museum of Maramures, Pensiunea Doli features accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, a bar and a garden. What I did like ? Hard to say,I chose the location based on closeness to my destination.
Located in Sighetu Marmaţiei, 2.1 mi from The Village Museum of Maramures, Vila Roza features accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. Great place. Comfortable, clean, well equipped, wifi strong, quiet neighbourhood, close to city center, inner parking. Very good contact with owner. Highly recommended.
There are only a few good local attractions e.g. the Memorial Museum, but otherwise the town is not very attractive. Rather stay in one of the smaller villages en route. The steam train from Viseul se Sus was a highlight but getting there using local transport was a mission so rather stay in Viseul de Sus.
An interesting old town with remnants of some long gone old glory. Visit to the Memorial Museum is a must. Good local food, friendly and helpful local people, a nice mix of local languages and cultures (Romanians, Hungarians, Ukrainians, Rutens and God knows what else...). Good starting point for day-trips to the not beatiful but splendid countryside, famous wood churches, the one-of-a-kind experience of Sapanta Cheerful Cemetery, The Viseu railroad and many-many other nice things. Do not miss!
We came as a group of 26 people directly visiting the prison museum in the centre which was excellent - we liked it very much, very informative and interesting. We also saw the Merry Cemetary just 20 km from the town.
Maramures is exactly what it is reputed to be: perhaps the last traditional peasant farming district in Europe. Endlessly fascinating if that interests you. Sighetu itself is large enough to have everything you need and small enough to park (free) and walk. My wife found some vintage embroidery that made her whole trip.
Me and my family stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly, the double bed room was comfy, clean, all in excellent condition. The TV remote didn't work, but the staff promptly replaced it. The breakfast was also excellent, you should try the papanash, it was superb, and also the mamaliga. The location of the hotel is also great, near the city center
Interesting town with some interesting sites within walking distance. Information bureau is an excellent source of information. They even make their own maps of the area and are continually seeking to improve them. One of the best information bureaus I have encountered. There are two hostels suitable for backpackers.
Very nice modern style building. The owner thoughtfully moved us to a different building/room since there a was a large number of children coming in to stay the building we were originally in. Overall a fine stay.
Nice staff, the restaurant in the back serves very good traditional food, bed was comfy and big, you get a balcony towards the restaurant, very close the the center(10 min walk), right next to Elie Wiesel house
Very friendly staff. Good view from windows. Very good kitchen
Great place to spend a couple of days
