Located within 656 feet of Cable Car, Sport Hotel Dombay in Dombay features a number of amenities including a shared lounge. Located around 492 feet from local market, the hotel has free WiFi. The hotel is situated right next to the lifts, location is unmatched. The imperial style of the building is fascinating. Both of my rooms were equipped with a panoramic window onto the main slope, that alone is worth the ten, bed was clean and comfortable, bathroom was very old but tidy and clean. There was a fresh water cooler in the hall right next to my room, it helped a lot to recover after a snowboarding day. I definitely recommend this hotel, my price was $10 for a single room. And yes, you can leave your things at the reception if you check out in the morning and plan to hit the slope one last time before departure in the evening

Dombay has some of the most beautiful scenery not just in Russia or the Caucasus but on Earth. If you don't want to drive, you can easily reach the resort by taxi from the Mineralnye Vody airport in 3.5 hours for less than $100 (sometimes quite a bit less if you know how to negotiate). The town itself has everything within a short walking distance - a range of restaurants, bars, fishing, karaoke, shisha, saunas/spas, souvenirs, many excursion options from sightseeing on horseback and jeeps to white-water rafting and helicopter rides. Hiking trails are abundant in the 4 valleys that come together in Dombay (beware of wildlife including bears and wolves, do not bring dogs, they wont be allowed). Ski lifts take you from the heart of town to up to 3200 meters for breathtaking views. You wont need a car to access any activities because pick-up/drop-off are standard. IMPORTANT: Bring your passport with your everywhere (whether you're a Russian or a foreigner), because this is a 'border zone' and some trails are restricted or require registration at a check-point or online.
Loved the mountains but people are weird, they seem unfriendly. Everything was overpriced, the food wasn’t tasty and we got food poisoning on the last day. Strongly recommend to try other ski resorts, like Elbrus for example. There’s a lady who sells fur coats, her place is on the way to the lower station of the cable car. She is the friendliest person we met.
I came in the late summer months, The scenery is gorgeous with excellent hiking. Be aware that many hiking routes require you to be security cleared in advance, a month in advance, if you are a foreigner, if you are Russian perhaps the can fix it on sight. The lamb and other local meats are simply fantastic
Good for beginners in ski/snowboard, small number of tracks. A visit during public holidays in Russia is not a good idea due to huge tourist jams on the ski lifts, which begin around noon. Try local food, it is commonly home-made, traditional and scrumptious, served almost everywhere, . Stunning views.
Location is perfect for skiers and snowboarders. It is 5 minute walk from hotel to gondola lift to the mountain.
