Yaroslavl is the capitale of Golden ring and it's absolutely worth a visit to enjoy, overall, its stunning churches and the romantic atmoshere of Volga river. Strongly suggested a visit to Elia's church and a ride on the Volga. We did it thanks to a private company www.yar-vr.ru and experienced an amazing 3D travel!
Excellent place with a lot of historical places. There are many buildings which were built in soviet time, but they have interesting architectural details. Also you will find there many churches and cathedrals. Besides you can visit diverse cafes and restaurants with own “face“) I highly recommend visiting this town for getting positive and varied impressions.
The old town is good for walks and your can also hire a car or call a taxi, which is really cheap to compare with the Russian capital. There are efficitent local taxi services as well. There a lot of cafes and restaurants with various types of cuisine, many of which are reasonably priced. Most popular places should be booked at least in the same morning at the latest. During our last visit we tried the Georgian restaurant 'Veriko' and paid a visit to one of our favourite cafes in Yaroslavl - the'Organic Coffee' in Ulitsa Svobody. We were quite satisfied both times. Yaroslavl has many interesting places to offer according to a tourist's preference. Alongwith old churches and monasteries, visiting which can appeal to religious people and those interested in history and architecture, now there are more and more interactive museums are being opened. We visited the 'Miniature Golden Ring of Russia' and enjoyed being there very much. Children might enjoy it too as well as the Planetarium and the Einstein Science Museum. Also, there is a good idea to try the Big Wheel by the Kotorosl river, next to the Royal SPA and Wellness Hotel and have a bus city tour around the old city. If you come in summer river boats on the Volga river are also available and strongly recommended.
Yaroslavl exceeded our expectations. It’s a big city, but a beautiful city. We stumbled upon Sovetskaya Ploshchad (Square), where an early evening festival was occurring; live performances and happy people with the backdrop of a 17th century church. Next morning, we walked from our Hotel (the perfectly-located Ibis) to the mighty Volga, where we strolled along the high embankment, as the winter sun rose ahead of us. The gleaming white Uspenskyi Cathedral is at the junction of where the smaller Kotorosl River joins the Volga. Walked along the Kotorosl past three more churches, slipping into one of the for a few minutes of Orthodox service, then resumed our stroll to the highlight, Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy Monastery (buy tickets to cover all exhibits, and enjoy the enclosed grounds for a couple of hours. Yaroslavl is very walkable, with amazing sights and interesting architecture in between. We covered over 5 miles (over 8 km) without even trying. Transportation: we arrived by bus from Ivanovo (before that, Suzdal). Bus station is south of the city, near the Moscovskyi Train Station, where we boarded a bus for city center “Центр” and rode about 10 minutes to Bogoyavleninya Ploshchad, the first step after crossing the Kotorosl, and conveniently next to the previously mentioned Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy Monastery.
It's a lovely historical city, built centuries ago on the Volga river. It will welcome you with super nice very humble people, gorgeous sightseeing and guided tours, hearty Russian cuisine restaurants for any budget. It will be colder than you expect it, remember to dress layers and bring warm clothes with you. If you don't like freezing, go in June or July. Typical November temp is 15F, summers can be cold and rainy or hot and dry, but always short. Bring your camera! It will be plenty of opportunities for memory shots!
It was my first snowfall in Russia and I'm so glad it was in Yaroslavl. The city is small enough to see some great cathedrals sites and walk along the Volga. After that I was able to warm up at my hostel then have one the best sleeps I've had since coming to Russia.
The hotel is located in a quiet center. Ten minutes from the Yaroslavl Kremlin. The hotel does not have its own parking, but there is free public parking right in front of the entrance. Our room was not stylish but was large enough, had everything we needed and had a very high ceiling. The staff is polite and the price was good for a large room with a fairly basic breakfast.
1. hotel is located in the center( you can go to main church by 20 min by walk) 2. around hotel there is many good restaurant. 3. there is shopping center by walk only 2 min. 4. very good delicious breakfast and the breakfast room are so beautiful! 5. room is very comfortable! 6. Spa, sauna are excellent!!! I love it. 7. Friendly staff!!! Super!
Good value for money, although it could be better. The room was nice and clean, and the facilities are okay. Breakfast was nice and tasty but lacked a good choice of dishes. The hotel is quite near the center, but getting there on foot is a bit complicated. I recommend using Uber.
- Great location In the downtown of Yaroslavl - positive and accommodating attitude of the personnel - Cleanliness - Offer to use a local guide for a nice excursion (it was in Russian)
The location is great, close to everything. Very good breakfast. Souvenir shop, a restaurant and other facilities in the hotel. Lots of places to visit and to eat nearby.
The breakfast was very nice especially pancakes. The room and hotel was very clean and matrasses were hard and very comfortable.
