The city drastically changed to better for the last 3 years since I was there, the roads became wider, more new buildings, service level increased. What remained the same is dirt. I was lucky not to have raining weather, was only caughing from dust, but I can imagine how my clothes would look like if it starts raining.
Great city with lots to do and see. Stroganoff grill and Pena Smetana are really cosy restaurants with a good choice of food and drink. The Yeltsin museum I found extremely interesting and if you want great views of the city go to the 52nd floor at the Vysotsky Tower. Plotinka is a nice area to chill and watch the world go.
A dynamically developing city. One of the main cultural, scientific, industrial, sport and commercial centers of Russia. There are many interesting museums and first-class theaters, including the Opera and Ballet Theater, the Operetta and Musical Theater, drama and modern dance companies. The city has rich musical traditions, many music and theater festivals. Architectural appearance: modern skyscrapers are combined with old mansions. An interesting collection of buildings in the style of constructivism is the largest in Russia. In the summer the city is picturesque, a lot of greenery, fountains, in winter it is covered with snow. From the observation deck of the Vysotsky skyscraper, from the restaurants located on the upper floors, a breathtaking view of the metropolis opens up. Ekaterinburg certainly deserves your attention.
Yekaterinburg is not such a touristic place, you can see it all in one day. But that´s why it is awesome, you will not see any hordes of nuisance asian tourists. Don´t skip, skyscraper Vysocky, Yeltsin center, Church on blood, walk along Plotynka and the dam and visit restaurant Vilka Lozhka (вилка ложка).
I liked the city. Clean city with lots of high buildings and beautiful old houses. You must visit The Yeltsin center. You’ll know much interesting stuff about the first russian president (He was born in the region and started his political career here) and that years. The last royal family was killed in the city. You won’t be bored here. Everyone I guess find something that they like.
We stopped here on our trip across Russia on the Siberian Express Railway. It was a nice break from the train, and had some interesting sights. There is a red line on the sidewalk through town to see the sights (we didn't walk it because of my arthritis, but we would have liked to). We made a point to go to the nearby border between Asia and Europe, just for the experience and pictures. It was a 1500 ruble cab ride, and we enjoyed seeing the town as we rode through it on the way. The border itself is just a nice monument, but it was neat to be there.
The managers were quite helpful and very nice. They were quickly responding to any request of mine and made my stay there very comfy. The hotel rooms and toilets were clean and well-equipped. The price was good considering the comfort and hotel's location
