This property is in Abisko National Park, 700 metres from Lake Torneträsk. Hotel rooms, budget rooms as well as self-catering cottages are all offered here. Lovely place with several possibilities (restaurant, self-cooking, hotel room, bunkbeds, ...) located in a beautiful setting. After walking ten minutes in the neigbourhood the stress of the very long trip was already forgotten.
This guest house is in the centre of Abisko and next to Abisko National Park. Depending on the season, the midnight sun and the Northern Lights can be viewed from the property and surrounding area. Enough space of the room(s) and a well equipped kitchen to make you independent (supermarket just 5 minutes away). Very friendly staff (for all activities).
This hotel is in Abisko Ski Resort, just 2 minutes’ walk from Abisko Östra Train Station. Mountain Lodge’s in-house restaurant has a seasonal menu based on locally sourced ingredients. Very nice interior, good location by the mountain, great food and service, lovely cottage with terrace. Everything was great!
Set in Abisko, 3.4 km from Linbana, Abisko Hostel offers accommodation with a shared lounge and free private parking. The accommodation features a shared kitchen and free WiFi throughout the property.... Great new place in Abisko, Roger was very accommodating. Very close to the little store in town and near everything you need as far as tours. I would totally come back and he was part of my magical time there with the Amazing Northern Lights! He even came down and got me to make sure I didn't miss them :)
Boasting a terrace, Lovely house in Abisko offers accommodation in Abisko with free WiFi and garden views. Situated 3.4 km from Linbana, the property features a garden and free private parking. It is the best place round Abisko. It is 2 km away from the Abisko natural reserve but the lodging there is at a much lower level. It has all amenities, including wifi, Netflix, Apple tv, sauna and so forth. We had a great time there.
Abisko net Hostel & Huskies is situated in Abisko and features a terrace and mountain views. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen, a tour desk, luggage storage and free WiFi. I love the staffs. They are really kind and so patient to explain all kinds of activities for me. Meeting nice people there.
Katterjokk Turiststation offers pet-friendly accommodation in Riksgränsen. Free private parking is available on site. All rooms have a dining table. Some rooms feature a private kitchenette. Katterjok Turistation is beautifully located and only a short walk from a nice restaurant and supermarket. It's conveniently located opposite to the trainstation (but I could hardly hear the train when it passed). Our host was very friendly and welcoming. Everything was well maintained and clean. We shared a small kitchen which contained all the essentials. The views were absolutely stunning! And did I mention their spotless sauna facility? What a treat after a long day of enjoying the outdoors!
Just 500 metres from the slopes of Riksgränsen Ski Resort, these apartments feature private balconies and modern kitchens with microwaves, fridges and tea/coffee makers. We were in trouble by weather, and the staff was very comprensive and helpful with us.
The place is really fantastic! We were there hiking but you do not have to go long to see the nature that is unbelievably beautiful! There are almost nowhere to eat after the hike though. There is a local food store selling mostly candy but also some basic ingredients and there is a restaurant at the Abisko Mountain Lodge. And that’s it. We found nothing else. The dinner at the restaurant was great though! Definitely worth a visit! But somewhat pricy and there is no pizza/hamburger alternative nearby if you do not have a car. There is a restaurant at Abisko tourist station 2 km away. There you can eat a simpler lunch buffet. We did that a couple of times. They also serve dinner but that we haven’t tried. It seemed to be a 3-course dinner as well.
Brilliant for nature! One of the best places to see the Northern Lights. There are plenty of places to take scenic walks. It is small, and there was only one supermarket. Going off season makes it more difficult as there were no restaurants open at the time. Great place, would recommend!
The superb wilderness National Park is stunning in early summer, with hiking trails open, but snow still higher on the mountains. Trails are well-marked, with a good range of standards available. The village can be easily accessed by rail, bus or car. It's not too busy; still some solitude available.
It's expensive, but it has to be done. Abisko has everything you could wish for, a winter wonderland. Skidoos, ice fishing. I know we were very lucky.... the Northern lights appearing on cue for New Years Eve on the frozen lake has to be one of the most stunning sights ever. I wish you luck if you are searching for the aurora too. Abisko is one of the best places to see them.
Abisko is an ideal place to view the northern light, the chance to see the aurora is high. You might see the aurora in front of your Lodge/hotels or sky mountain or lakeside. This will help you save the money if you need to join aurora trip which is not cheap. In additional, it is more comfortable able to view aurora in front of your lodge, which sometimes you can stay inside lodge whenever the temperature is very low and cold. There is a big supermarket nearby which you can buy your ingredient for your cooking, at least you have variety of choices for your meals. I was there in last early Dec and able to see the aurora 3 days in a row with index 4-5. There is a train station nearby which you can take the train from Kiruna and to Narvik short trip. Lake Tornetrask is 15 mins walking distance which is a good place to view aurora at night.
The beauty of Abisko is breathtaking. I have not been to many places on the earth were the sense of wilderness is so present, and your own insignificance in comparison to nature is so clear. My English fails me, I just can’t find the superlatives (is that even an English word?) to describe Abisko and the area down to Kebnekaise.
