Location was great, a quiet little neighbourhood but still close to everything. Room was big enough for both of us and our suitcases, beds were the most comfortable hotel beds ever. Breakfast was ok but in a city full of bakeries, not needed. Staff was kind and helpful every time!

The Stockholm Stadshotell is - without exaggerating - one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. We chose this hotel because of its location (Södermalm, highly recommended, not too touristy, but lively with lots of restaurants, terraces and other nice places) and the beautiful minimalist Scandinavian interior. We got so much more than we had expected. Starting with the rooms: the beds are large and comfortable with very soft bedding. Our bathroom was spacious with a lovely shower. Everything was clearly brand new, and the styling has been thought out down to the last detail. Also nice: a well-stocked minibar with good snacks and drinks (among others olives, popcorn, champagne). The facilities are also very good. There is a sauna (including a cold bath) which you can reserve for yourself for 1.5 hours (even the sauna area is styled to perfection). On the beautiful terrace at the front of the hotel, you can enjoy one of the many cocktails served in the bar (from classics to new discoveries). And I would definitely recommend going to the hotel restaurant (for either breakfast or dinner). The restaurant has a nice bistro vibe and the food is prepared with love and of good quality (we especially enjoyed the croissant and French toast during the breakfast). Finally: the service is top-notch and personal. The hotel staff is sweet and interesed: they like to chat, ask how your day was when you return at the hotel. This kind of personal contact is something we don't see that often anymore in hotels. Tea or coffee will be brought to your room upon request and as an extra touch (for Midsommar) we received flowers in our room. Long story short: if you're going to Stockholm, stay at this hotel!

A Natural Beauty

Modern Stockholm is uniquely made up of 30% waterways and another 30% of parks and green spaces. It’s spread across 14 islands and is both one of the world’s cleanest and most charming capitals.

Stockholm’s famously huge number of museums includes the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet, the Moderna Museet and the Spritmuseum. City Hall hosts the famous Nobel Prize banquet and the Vasamuseet hosts the 300 year old Vasa warship.

The city’s past can be felt in Gamla Stan – Stockholm’s stunning Old Town with medieval layout, cobblestone streets and the Baroque-style Royal Palace. Designer Swedish clothes and interior decorations abound in the many unique stores throughout the city.

For a day away, ferries reveal the stunning Stockholm archipelago, a group of thousands of islands and rocks where you can enjoy hiking, outdoor swimming and fishing.

Whether you fly to Arlanda, Bromma, Skavsta or Västerås Airports, the city center can be reached by either train or airport coach. Booking.com offers a wide choice of accommodations for your Stockholm holiday, from modern hotels, to unique motels and affordable hostels.

Excellent choices of museums for all ages and interest, from ABBA to Vasa plus lots of history to discover. The Palace inside was ok, change of Guard always a spectacle to watch, the old city was very colourful with cobalt streets and traditional bars and restaurants. Lots of shopping malls, easy to go around by foot or with tube, surprisingly taxis/Uber were rather cheap compared to other services, overall a very stimulation city visit.

Must comment on public transport: very poor for tourist to access. Info sources very unclear: where and how to access. We ended up speaking with a worker in a train station, no help, other than to take an Uber. Also, why did we pay 40% more to taxi from the train station to hotel Birger Jarl, than to taxi from that hotel to the airport? And why doesn't the train service the airport? I have two nieces who wish to visit Norway, which we did. Do I tell them to extend their trip to Sweden?

it is a great experience to visit such a modern , rich, ecologic country, which offers so much to see; the beauty of the center, the main harbour center, all the history of it. We appreciate the way Stockholm respects nature, like amazig old oaks in the middle of the town, the facilities for children, mums, and handicaped persons. Transportation is everywhere, very clear and easy. The town offers so much to see, museums, gardens, boats..... Everything is so clean and enjoyable. This is a country which was never destroyed during wars, and could maintain its genuine history. Great and dynamic experience. The sweddish people are so nice and helpful , such a pleasure....

Stockholm is an incredibly beautiful city criss crossed by bridges over water. It is extraordinarily green, with lush vegetation everywhere. There is clearly a great deal of attention to aesthetic and everything is built with quality and attention to detail. You can find many cuisines in Stockholm, but I was interested in sampling Swedish cuisine and it didn’t disappoint. Public transport is incredible and affordable, if you have time to master it. I managed to get where I needed to go without much problem. Most speak English and there is English signage in English where you need it. I loved the Historiskat Museet, and took a short ferry ride to the charming old city. I took a boat tour to Birka on Björkö, which is highly recommended for the ferry ride itself, even if you’re not that much into history. It takes a day to do the tour. I went with a company called Stromma. I ate a meal on the boat, which was excellent. I only had eight days including travel, but I would love to go back and stay longer to explore some more.

This was our 2nd trip and there was still plenty to see and was just as places were closing for the Winter but Gamla Stan still had everything open. It was only when we took a ferry to Vaxholm for a few hours where you see almost everything closed and a handful of tourists but this made it fantastic to walk around.

Absolutely amazing location, presentation and vibe. The breakfast was one of the best I ever had with mesmerising view of Stockholm + so many options to choose from (vegan, gluten free, healthy & regular). There was a TV even in our really small room without windows so it was so nice to wind down with Netflix in the evening after full day of exploring. Also, there is so many events happening right at the hotel (October fest, Karaoke night…) so that you can meet other travellers.
