Hotel Zarja is surrounded by the Pohorje Hills at about 3937 feet above sea level, in a tranquil and beautiful area which is ideal for both active and relaxing holidays. We had some awesome dessert for dinner. They actually take part in numerous national and regional competitions and it shows in the quality of their food. Very friendly staff. A very nice view (including gorgeous sunrise and sunset - that is actually what the name Zarja means in Slovenian) and, as you are practically in the middle of a forest, the air is really fresh and at night you can see more stars than usual.

Hočko Pohorje
Located in Hočko Pohorje, 28 miles from Zreče, Apartments Mariborsko Pohorje provides ski-to-door access and free WiFi. A beautiful apartment, very clean, big rooms, fully equipped (and more), in a nice complex of (identical) buildings. A lot of attention to details, and very warm feeling (suitable for winter - fireplace and even a xmas tree) but also great for summer. We arrived late (~23:00) and had to call the housekeeper, which arrived quickly and was very nice (although she does not speak good english, so later we needed her son as an interpreter). Nice walking trails in the area, and you can use the cable car to go down the mountain and visit Maribor.

Hotel Zarja, Forest Hotel Videc, and Wellness & Spa hotel Bolfenk got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Hočko Pohorje.
It was wonderful. Quiet, clean. calm, gorgeous views, so much to do even when the snow is bad, wonderful people - the list goes on. The gondola is an incredible way to start and end the day, hiking through the forrest is great, and although we got there at the end of the ski season it was still a wonderful experience especially for the kids.
Even if they had almost no snow at this period of the year we managed to ski . The instructor was so patient good teacher and effective thank you” Iva “. We stayed in Bolfenk apartment it was super clean , nice and cosy. The ski station was 5 mn walk , you can also take the Gonjola to go downhill and eat outside. The city center is also very close . There is a nice Chinese restaurant in Mercator Center “ Shanghai city” very good.
We went on a short skiing holiday with our kids aged 5 and 7. When we arrived there wasn't a lot of snow and so we skied on artificial snow and a few runs were closed. It's good for beginners with plenty of wide, easy runs across the two centres (Bolfenk and Areh). The two centres are connected by a free ski bus. In heavy snow they may even join up but it's probably too low lying for normal winters. General shortage of toilets across the resort so go when you can.
Perfect location for beginners on ski or snowboard. The top of the slope was still ok (end of season we went) but it was too icy at the bottom. Many beginners on the slopes - I did not mind as I was one of them :) Don't miss the Viewpoint (10-15min walk from Apartment) - steep in the end so think twice before taking small kids along.
The two floor apartment is very cute, really big, warm, clean and quite at the top of the mountain, directly on the sky slope. Really a good place if you like hiking in the nature. WiFi doesn't work at the best. The only market in the surroundings is not well served so, take food and all you need with you!
