A beautiful small city at the foothills.
A beautiful small city at the foothills. It has a lot ot cafes and all prime sight seeing locations around are well reachable. People are warm and nice and there is enough to do for all types and age groups of people. There is a sushi restaurant which is undoubtedly the best in Slovakia.Shanko - Scored 1010
Life is very quiet on the main Plaza where there are no cars...
Life is very quiet on the main Plaza where there are no cars circulating. There are no traffic lights on the streets. There are coffee places all around restaurants where you can have typical food from Slovakia. Banská Bistrice is a city with a Soul - people are curious and friendly (I speak a bit of Czech). One afternoon there was a grandma lady explaining to 15-20 grandmoms about the charmings of the city.

Our stay has been enjoyable.
Our stay has been enjoyable. There is not much around the main square, but it is a very nice and quiet city. Foreigners are rare, but the locals usually speak English and do their best to make you feel good. The restaurants we visited had okay prices and very good food. The main issue is that the city is not very accessible unless you have a car

Beautiful city centre, especially around Christmas time. Nice restaurants,excellent food and beer, lovely little shops and shopping centre Europa with cinemas and disco club Ministry of fun. Great place for hiking,skiing.Kaskady hotel is great for relaxation and Spa.Nice historic hotels in the city centre hotel Arcade, hotel Kuria and walking distance to the centre excellent and friendly Art pension dans le parc.

It is a very captivating town.
It is a very captivating town. Big, nice main square with beautiful sights but also worth to walk on the crossing streets. Surrounded with nice green hills. There are surprisingly many good cafés, bars, bistros - and you can get exciting beer at many corners. Quite a few Banská Bistrica related craft beers and regional beers are to get. Nice people to meet at many places. And the whole ambience of the town is worth to experience, at least once. I want to return.KocsmaturistaHungary
