Ao Nang, as well as Railay beach, was a bit of a disappointment to us. Loads of people and loads of rubbish. We had never seen a beach that dirty before. Shame. You have to walk few km north to get nicer parts of the beach. The beautiful islands and their beaches close to the Ao Nang recovered our faith in holiday :-)

Ao nang beach is perhaps good to sun bathe but the water is dirty. The sewage from the town goes straight to the beach you can see rats roaming around the beach but there are other nearer beaches which are nicer and cleaner. Hotels transporting their rubbish bags getting soaked in the water metres where people were swimming. Railay beach is cleaner and excellent, you will need to get a 15 min boat ride from Ao Nang beach. Plenty of restaurants to choose from but majority Indian food! But there are good authentic Thai food restaurants too.AAnonymous - Scored 1010

I liked that we could get everything at Ao Nang Beach. Literally everything was there like the Pharmacy, 7/11, restaurants, and tour services. There is not really a con, everyone and everything was nice.

Great location within reach of lots of restaurants, arms, convenience stores and shops. I didn’t go to beach but well within walking distance. Restaurant was open but I did see staff taking breakfast to people’s rooms (I’m not a breakfast eater!) pool was lovely with enough sun loungers and parasols when I wanted to use. Pool towels provided. Room was big, clean and well set out with fridge, kettle and large balcony area. Staff friendly. If you are a smoker, you can smoke on your balcony. Umbrellas provided which was really useful for the sudden onset of rain. Some communal areas a little tired but rooms and pool area beautifully maintained.beach easily accessible on foot but I didn’t go as this was stop gap for relaxation by pool on year long trip.sarahUnited Kingdom - Scored 1010

Ao nang beach is a true thai style beach, with tiny islands in front of you, surrounded by huge cliffs falling in the sea and lush vegetation with coconut trees, bright coarse sand. Really spectacular sunsets. I will return back for sure. If there is one restaurant I can recommend, Chom Lay! We hired a motorbike to drive us to Noppharat Thara Beach. It turned into a full-day trip with a visit to Klong Rott, Nong Thale, with a kayak trip. We ate well that day at Ruanthip between the two places mentioned. Kodam Kitchen (soi Klang Hang) is recommended, as are restaurants south of 4203, the main road that leads down to the beach ie. restaurants at Soi Ao Nang 17.Jens HenrikDenmark
