Rayong is a not too big city on the Gulf of Thailand with great beaches. what I miss is good restaurants and coffee houses. it is all very Thai, not clean, a lot is broken and will never be repaired. streets are good, Thai driving crazy and dangerous. Thailand is the number one in road accidents and casualties in the world. Thai just do not care. that has also its positive, Thai are not easy to shock. see the acceptance of gay and so on.

You can if you want go from Rayong Tour and one stop on the sky train go to Sawanabuhmi airport for 195baht.

We left Koh Chang, crowded beaches and crazy roads to relax in Rayong, most beaches had a few people only, so relaxing. Lots of beach side food and coffee shops in most places and some splendid temples around....of course!

The Mangrove Trail, Yomjinda Rd. and a Café called "104 CAFE & MORE" was nice. Otherwise nothing to see. I didn't see ANY other foreign tourists. No good breakfast and vegetarian food options in town. Hard to get around on foot. One day there is more than enough.

Rayong was our stopover from Koh Samet island back to Bangkok airport and leave the country. So, two nights to facilitate the transfer was just enough. There is nothing to see around here. The night market is small and unattractive. It's just a remote town with little character, not really a touristic attraction.

May be not the right time to visit but it was so boring! The beach was full with garbage, water oily and unhealthy for swimming. The positive note was the mangrove forest for daily walk and birdwatching.

The appartements are ideally located directly at at the beach (just a small road inbetween). Rayong is very nice and relaxing, off the beaten track.
Sammy, the owner and his wife are very nice and helpful. Sammy is not only a very good host, but he knows the area and facilities very well and guided us around. He is also an experienced consultant for many topics that are useful for tourists and to-become-residents. We were very glad to meet him. Thanks a lot for all.

Considering the price we paid, the room and especially the breakfast buffet were exceptional. The location was also very convenient since we had just arrived in Thailand and needed some stuff before moving on to Koh Samet. There was a large Lotus Hypermarket next to the hotel where we could buy an AIS SIM card, exchange money at the bank and had a delicious lunch at the Lotus food court. There is also the Star Night Bazaar market and the Star Fresh Market next door.
