Everything was great, from check in to check out. The location is perfect, Surat Thani is a small Bangkok. We had diner at the pier, a few blocks away. The staff is very friendly. We would come back to stay here for sure if we stay in this city again.

Not many good restaurants that we found. People not as friendly as other locations. Ate in the Craft Bistro one night which on first impressions looked awful but the food was really good. Also ate in the Riverside restaurant, slightly more expensive but food good and a band singing nice music. Again, people not overly friendly though.

Organising a taxi at the airport was shambolic - I ended up walking 5km to my hotel because the local taxi drivers did not want to take me as it was relatively close and therefore, not 'worth their while' - Make sure you prebook a bus, taxi, shuttle etc before you arrive.

I enjoyed the small town vibe in Surat Thani. It is super chill and quiet. Nothing much going on which is very relaxing itself. They have a nice night market that has a lot of amazing food. The price are cheaper than bangkok and the islands. If you have extra time on your trip, I would highly recommend to stay a day or two in Surat thani.

i travel to samui every six weeks.this is the second time i stayed overnight in in surathani.i will do this from now on.if your driving like me surathani town is a good place to stop.donsak ferry five mins from the hotel.

We went to Suratthani for the boat race, but we were not able to see it because it was moved on the earlier date. I don't know maybe we were wrong about the dates. In general it is a good place to relax with. We don't have any particular favorite place, though we hang out more by the river.

Surat Thani is a nice middle sized, typical Thai town still...
Surat Thani is a nice middle sized, typical Thai town still not much influenced by tourism. Most foreigners just travel trough Surat Thani on the way to Koh Samui. The promenade near the Tapi river with it's night market is awesome, so much local food to try out for very little money. It's worth taking a long tail boat and make a tour through the mangrove swamps. On the contrary to Koh Samui the local taxi ( kind of tuk tuk ) are relatively cheap and most taxi drivers I met were quite nice and didn't try to cheat.
