the lady who manages the property greeted me immediately upon arrival she saw that I was with my cousin not my husband so we switched to a room where he can sleep on the couch she knew I didn’t wanna sleep with him she quickly mopped the bathroom and bedroom then let us switch beyond the sweetest yet simple gesture EVERYTHING was on the property that u need a grocery store right down the hill to grab anything you may have forgot but this was truly like staying at my own apartment with neighbors who were very friendly everything u could think of was in the apartment plates pots pans spoons cups bowls cooking utensils a fridge and freezer stove microwave TV FREE WiFi bedroom AC fan for the living room the porch outside was a whole vibe I’ve never been to castera in Tobago but now due to this property I have a home the beach being right there and fishman ready to assist with taking u out on their boats also the grocery store down the hill had everything u could think of if you forget something just walk down the hill over the bridge and that grocery has it also make sure to stop by the ice cream shop near the grocery store their ice cream Is amazing!!!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience this was better than a trip to American Hotel or apartment the price was very well valued for all I received when I come back I refuse to stay anywhere else this is the place To stay

Wayne was an exceptional host, going above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The property itself is stunning, with breathtaking views and lush, vibrant nature all around. One of the highlights was watching the countless hummingbirds fluttering around the property throughout the day—truly a magical experience. Unfortunately, I fell ill during our trip, but Wayne was a true blessing. His kindness, attentiveness, and quick communication made all the difference, and we felt genuinely cared for the entire time we were on the island. The apartment was cozy and well-equipped, with a convenient kitchenette for preparing meals when we wanted. However, the on-site breakfast was a wonderful option, and in the evenings, Wayne offered a variety of delicious drinks and local dishes for purchase, which added a special touch to our stay. As a native of the island, Wayne has a wealth of local connections and can organize tours if needed. His expertise made exploring the island so much easier and more enjoyable and he recommended a lovely little waterfall hike for us to do. If you’re considering staying here, don’t hesitate—it’s an incredible place with an even more incredible host. We couldn’t recommend it more!

The lobby area was well lit and quite clean. Staff members were very professional yet friendly. Any requests we had were promptly dealt with. On entering the room however it was a bit smaller than what we are accustomed with but it was exceptionally clean and quite cosy. The bathroom-face basin, toilet and shower were impeccably clean. There was an alarm clock which was convenient and ohh the bed, pillows and blanket were the best. I didn't miss my own one bit. Again quite cosy and comfortable. The food was very good- breakfast, drinks and brunch. Everything was tasty. We ate lunch and dinner elsewhere as we wanted to experience what the island had to offer. Comfort inn and suites were definately a 10/10 for me. I would definitely return.

As a female solo traveler, I visited Castara with a skeptical mindset to be honest, and Castara ( Trinidad and Tobago in general) just blew my mind away. Such a wonderful, amazing place and such a great nation full of super-friendly, warm, kind people. I absolutely loved the beaches, specially the Castara Bay beach where I spent about 10 days. The beach was breathtakingly beautiful. The view was picturesque. The green mountains surrounding the landscape were enchanting, and I just ended up relaxing for hours in the magnificent turquoise water. I simply did not want to come out!! Not crowded at all. Felt like I was chilling at a private beach. The ocean was very calm, peaceful, and more of a pool, so it was ideal for a person like me, who is not good at swimming. Felt an extremely safe vibe while roaming around the village. Castara ( Tobago in general) should be in a traveler's bucket list!!

This is a very small town with a very local feel.

This is a very small town with a very local feel. Not too many tourists, and the restaurants and stores do not feel 'made for tourists'. They are just sort of 'there' and no one will make too big of a fuss over you as a tourist, so if you are used to pampering, this may not be the place :-) My favorite was driving (10 minutes) to Englishman's Bay, a gorgeous beach with a wild feel, very basic amenities, frequently quite strong surf, so be very cautious of undercurrents. But a truly beautiful stretch of sand with palm trees and coves and plenty of shade.

We spent a week at Castara Retreats and a further week at Seascape on Little Beach. Both provided us fantastic experiences. Castara village is a great rustic working village - the scenery, the beaches, and the people are all fabulous! The locals are very welcoming and friendly and there are plenty of long stay guests to point you in the right direction too. Wonderful meals were had at D'Almond Tree, Caribbean Kitchen and the Boathouse and great lunches at Duck's Seaside Grill. Plenty of local entertainment of an evening spread throughout the week to give you a feel for the local culture. An amazing boat trip down to No Man's Land and Nylon Pool with Daveon and Jeromie from Little Beach. The supermarket by main beach has everything you will need. You don't need a car, but taxis can be hired if you want to go further afield. You can try the local buses too - really cheap. Embrace the adventure and have fun!

Loved the people, the location and food to die for!

Loved the people, the location and food to die for! It is a short but steep hill down to the beach so a hot walk back but totally worth it. Castara Retreats is built on the hillside like most Tobago property with lots of steps so not for those with mobility issues. Perfect for winter sunshine, a warm welcome and an away from everything vibe!!

Castara is a lovely relaxed place with a fine beach set in gorgeous scenery. The Casa was ideally placed just a few paces from the beach, and numerous eateries. The air con works very well, the terrace was a great place to sit and relax. There was a fully equipped kitchen, and the host was like everyone in Castara, very friendly and helpful. A taxi from the airport to Castara costs 330 TT dollars. The place is very easy to find, and has a sign outside - right in the middle of the village.

Castara Retreats was the most amazing place. Our views from the Coasthanger were spectacular. We loved every moment of our stay and it ticked all the boxes we look for in a holiday. We would return in a heart beat. Thank you Porridge, Jeanell, and your team for the most wonderful time! View of bay from balcony with lots of tropical birds visiting. Good snorkelling straight from beach with all reef fish and turtles. Sting rays visit the bay when the fisherman bring in their catch which is great to watch 10 minute walk to other side of Castara for supermarket / restaurants etc….

Our 2nd time and we love it. Super location, great view, lots of wildlife, excellent host and staff. Can’t fault it. This time we also ate at Duck’s for lunch and takeaways and at Castara Kitchen just down the hill a short way. Really nice restaurant for a treat.
