And we LOVED their dogs Benny and Dottie and their cat, Rio, too!! Neville and Nella were incredible hosts! Bella’s cooking was off the charts and Neville’s hospitality around local resources and knowledge was super helpful. We highly recommend Leatherback Lodge!

Great place to stay , great food, great location of the hotel especially in the season of the leatherback turtles and the rare brown turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs and then when the eggs are hatched and the hatchlings go back to the ocean, there are also guided tours, it is an experience and a sight to see how nature and the circle of life works. You can have long early morning walks on the beach. There is a local chocolate factory that makes its chocolates from the cocoa tree to the table which is really great because you get to pick the cocoa pod and make your own chocolates.There is a tranquil river not far from the hotel that's worth visiting(Shark River). Getting to Grande Riviere its a long drive, so pack some snacks and drinks to keep you going until you reach your hotel, but its worth the scenery!

Seeing many turtles coming up and laying eggs on the beach is almost guaranteed. We saw 12 in a fifty foot span of beach front in an hour. The guides are informative though some inaccuracies were told to the visiting group of 10 persons. Seems that getting a $5 pass from the Ministry Forestry dept is unnecessary. Just pay $20 for the guided tour. The river is shallow, mossy in the main but you can bathe there. The sea is rough so no swimming but bathing is refreshing. The coastal scenery and night sky are beautiful

Experience to see turtle come to the beach and prepare to lay eggs and return to the Ocean. Guides were good at explanation. Make sure to be sure of your stay as there is no concessions if you have to leave beforehand

The design of the villa was perfect for my personal retreat and the location was a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the urban environment. Pretty nice road trip getting there, the road is in fairly good condition for the most part. Leave early if you heading from the west or south of the island as the trip is about 2 plus hrs.
