United KingdomWell what can I say, Elephant Lodge is fantastic. It is actually nicer than the pictures, even though the pictures are pretty spectacular. The location is brilliant - it is a few minutes drive from the entrance to Tarangire National Park. You do have to pay a fee for staying in the conservation area but that is a Government fee, not a hotel fee, and it's not a prohibitive cost. The accommodation was beautiful with a lovely rooftop terrace. The food was delicious and really well presented. The gym has everything you would need for a workout and the swimming pool was gorgeous. The Manager is a big hearted, funny and charming chap with an interest in conservation and luxury tourism and one foot firmly in both camps, and he does a great job of combining both. He is very present in order to ensure guests have the best experience. His team of staff are exceptional. Guests are allocated one main person to look after them and it works really well (Lillian was our person - and she was so lovely, cheerful, accommodating attentive without being intrusive.) The watering hole is right next main area of the accommodation and is frequently visited by elephants and other animals (as the name suggests). All of our party loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. It made a fantastic trip extra special. Thank you for the memories, we will never forget it.
