Haber the little dog the hotel is named after such a cute friendly dog. The food was amazing, cocktails were perfect. Thr customer service was beyond excellent. The owners were very very nice and we exchanged little trinkets to remember each other by. Such an amazing experience.

Our experience of zanzibar cannot be complete without this resort. Truly a paradise. I give them an 11/10. You might think this is an over exaggeration, and yes, it is not. Why? Because they also don't hold back on their sensitivity. The staff in mambo have sensitivity on 20/10. Whatever they lack as a facility, they make up for in sensitivity. Truly, they do not lack much. Clean, airy, spacious, noiseless, very clean again. Now to the sensitive part; they need to be given a thripple thumbs up thats why I give them 20/10. They will TAKE CARE OF YOU. They make sure you are comfy, always asking if yoh are fine and even if you are not happy they go out of their way to make you happy. As much as you pay for this service they make it worth the while. MAMBO IS A PARADISE OF SENSITIVE PEOPLE WHO WANT YOU TO ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY AND BE AT PEACE NO MATTER HOW SHORT OR LENGTHY YOUR STAY IS. THEIR MANAGER IS A GEM. I'D GO AGAIN IF I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY. Perfect vacation. Location was good, food was very exquisite. Swiming with dolphins was in front of the hotel. Turtles zoo was only 30 minutes away. And the most warm welcome ever experienced from Leigh. She was very helpful in every our request and made our vacation delightful.

The staff was really wonderful, friendly, and helpful. My partner was a bit unwell, so they instantly arranged for a doctor to come for a consultation. Dr. Mohammad was great, and reassuring, even sent us some medicine and followed up after, which really helped my partner recover fast and made our visit very relaxed. The place is beautiful! The beach stunning!! The rooms are very clean, comfortable and spacious. They are designed to provide privacy together with a direct view of the sea, with the beautiful sound of waves at night and early morning, which makes it very special. We loved the fact that all materials used and architectural designs of the hotel were all local. Would highly recommend.

The resort is so utterly relaxing, stress free and friendly. There's no crowd at the restaurant or pool. They have live music nights, which is a big plus. The food at the restaurant is delicious. Best place for a few carefree days. The staff is very involved and friendly.

    Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 . We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe. There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner. Not too far from stone town.

    Matemwe beach was huge and totally uncrowded - some days we were lucky to see 10 - 20 people pass by! Loved the Massai beach hawkers - friendly and laid back happy to have their pictures taken - no hassle or relentless chasing - once told 'no' they respected our space. Recommend a day trip to Nungwi for a completely different vibe and fantastic sunset. Matemwe is somewhat isolated and if you want to get around you need to secure the number of a local taxi driver - always bargain hard beforehand. Most hotels organise trips/tours but at a premium.

    It was a quieter beach which was nice which also meant not too many people hassling you to buy things. Those that did were respectful. Beach is nice but the sea depth is very shallow most of the day so swimming wasn't the easiest and there was a lot of seaweed when we were there.

    It’s very quiet, very few non hotel restaurants, overpriced food everywhere, can’t swim in the sea unless you don’t mind knee deep water. There’s no town, or town centre outside the beach hotels, so a long stay would be challenging if you want more than just lounging by the hotel pool.

    Matemwe and its area is a quiet place where you can relax and enjoy the beach, the activities (snorkeling, swimming with dolphins) especially if you are a couple, because the village is not very full of enterteinments or night parties.

    AMAZING , it was just amazing … amazing facilities, amazing staff , shoutout to dennis the football coach , he was super kind and respectful. I’ve been to zanzibar 7 times and the mira was definitely by far the best resort I have stayed in . The food was amazing , there was ALOT of seafood and a variety of seafood in each al a cart or buffet restaurant.you can’t run out of an option to eat and can’t run out of activities to do. Spectacular hotel !

    We love this place. Firstly, Matemwe is a relatively quiet spot and the lodge opens up to the beach. You can spend all day just watching life happen or go for a swim/snorkel at high tide or get on a boat to snorkel further out beyond the reef. Secondly the space is comfortable and clean. The staff and the owner are also fantastic…friendly and attentive. The buffet breakfast is great too.

    We have been to several hotels in Zanzibar and this was one of the best. Really felt like paradise and has its own private access to the beach and sunbeds by the pool and by the beach. Very close to Mnemba snorkeling, in comparison to if one was at Nugwi, we paid $20 each for a trip to the corals for snorkeling.

    Excellent hotel in Zanzibar, great restaurant also. I would call it a luxury boutique hotel as it has every luxury you need at the same time it’s a small cute boutique hotel in front of a really beautiful beach. Also every single staff is so accommodating and polite.
