We love verything and everyone at this hotel. We have been staying here on our annual trip to Maine for the past 5 years and we plan on continuing for as many years as our trip to Maine continues. Located in the peaceful village of Ashland, New Hampshire, this bed and breakfast is housed in a Victorian home built in 1895. My experience in Cheney House like to meet old friends, even though we just stayed for one night. That definitely was a memorable trip. To meet interesting people alway is a part of travel. The breakfast there is really delicious!
Nestled in the heart of New Hampshire's lakes and mountains, this historic inn offers elegant surroundings, delicious food, modern amenities and unrivaled service, near leisure activities, historic... super clean environment, cozy, wonderful breakfast, every detail very well planned, and finally a fantastic reception, the owners are extremely lovely, super recommend!
Located on 50 acres of land, this historic inn features free Wi-Fi and individually decorated rooms that include a sitting area along with a flat-screen TV. The breakfast choice was good & served nicely in the dining room on china with metal cutlery (not plastic plates & cutlery) The fresh eggs came from the inn`s own chickens. Darren & Kerri who are the owners and run the inn are delightful, friendly & welcoming. The location was very good for exploring the area which is very beautiful. They also have their own Chris craft boat which is similar to the one used in the film "On Golden Pond" and will take people out for a spin on the lake for an extra charge. We went on a lovely sunny day as the leaves were changing colour and it was a super experience We ate at the restaurant nearby, which was recommended, and is called "Walters basin" after the quarry fish in the above film and that was in a lovely setting over looking the lake & the meals were delicious.
Set on over 13 acres of lush forests, moments from Squam Lake, this English-style bed and breakfast offers luxurious accommodations, on-site spa treatments and easy access to attractions and... The Manor is beautiful. I wish we could have stayed longer! Perfect location & amazing breakfast. My husband & I would definitely stay here again!

Microwave & fridge in the room. Complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby. Nice clean room. Quiet location. Great price! I’ll be back!
A great small town, right off I-93, in the heart of NH. Many beautiful lakes, mountains, ski areas about 1/2 to 1 hour away. Common Man restaurant and Italian Farmhouse restaurant are both Super! There's a small brewpub (White Mountain Brewery) off Winter Street in town - best beer in New England!
First time staying in Ashland, we had a great time. Foliage was just starting to change. Did a nearby hike and explored the area and lakes. A great stay without having to go any farther north for what we were looking for in a weekend getaway in NH.
Host Glenn was very helpful with suggestions, maps & brochures. Breakfast was super. Went to Castle In the Clouds which was fabulous: a 1914 mansion with amazing views of Lake Winnipesaukee. Very worthwhile if you like architecture & innovative technology before its time.
There are some good food locations. (Within a mile) from the hotel. Eat in or order for take out. The hotel is in walking distance to BK and Dunkin’ Donuts. Right off RT93. Other attractions or shopping are with in 15 minutes Walmart, Ocean state Job Lot, Merrideth and Center Harbor . A 20 minute ride north and you are at Clark’s Trading post and Loon Mnt area!
Located a couple of miles away from Squam lakes and numerous hikes, this little town is next to Holderness and the is a perfect stop for breakfast budget conscious outdoorsy folks. Both Waterville and Loon mountain resorts are 20-30 min drive. A bonus: the original Common Man eatery est. in 1971 is in Ashland, with its quirky, apres ski atmosphere and comfort food.
We were on a fall foliage drive, leaf peeping. This location was a convenient stop on our tour of the White Mountains coming from Portland, ME and kept us on our path to Vermont, less than 3 hours away.
The staff was very friendly! 24 hr front desk which was awesome! The rooms were extremely clean! Very comfy beds! This place takes pride in their establishment! Breakfast was fabulous! Hot food, healthy foods very clean dining area! We have traveled a lot and you really get a lot for ur $! Even better than some Hilton’s we’ve stayed at! We will be back & will refer to Others!
Bobbi and Anthony were super friendly and helpful with everything. Suggested a great Restaraunt for dinner. Place was clean and bed was comfortable. Very accommodating and breakfast was fantastic. Will definitely be back to see the area in the summer and will not stay anywhere else.
Inkeepers were very knowledgeable and helpful in planning our stay! Couldn’t have been more accommodating! So much to do in area and we had so much fun! We will be back hopefully next year!
