Lovely coastal town free of chain restaurants!! All the shops and restaurants seemed locally owned and unique to the area. We enjoyed lots of seafood like fresh lobster, clam chowder and lobster bisque. Be sure to walk the coastal path and take a harbor cruise! We loved flying Cape Air from Boston to Bar Harbor to see the coast and islands--just be sure to pick up your luggage in Boston and bring it to the Cape Air terminal! Restaurants we liked-- Geddy's, Ben & Bills Chocolate Emporium for ice cream/gelato/fudge, Stewman's, Bar Harbor Lobster Pound --they had outdoor games, too! Of course, don't miss Acadia National Park and Abel's Lobster right by the yacht yard--great outdoor ambiance!!

We enjoyed sunrises at Cadillac Mountain, crossing the bar at low tide, hiking the Beehive, the Bubbles, and Acadia Mountain, and walking on a small portion of the carriage roads.
Bar Harbor had great food, but it was tough to get into the restaurants. Our favorite was the Side Street Cafe.
We went in late October. Pros - lower crowds. Con - water activities and some restaurants were already closed for the season.

We loved Gaylns restaurant, excellent food.
We loved Gaylns restaurant, excellent food. Whole belly clams were terrific at the Thirsty Whale. You can walk just about every where. The Sightseeing & Nature Cruise with Acadian Nature Cruises was worth taking.

absolutely gorgeous.
absolutely gorgeous. Loved the distance from the hotel to Acadia Nt'l Park, as well as, to the center of Bar Harbor. Love all the shops & exploring the different restaurants in town. We've been 1x before & the weather was perfect for getting great views @ the top of the mountains in Acadia. This time, we weren't so lucky - very foggy daily. But it was still just as beautiful. Highly recommend. the outdoor pool & hot tub are fantastic here after a long day of biking/hiking. The view of the ocean with the docked ships is quite beautiful. If you're lucky like we were, you may see Bald Eagles, deer or other wild life. :)

We had a different perception of what Bar Harbor was going...
We had a different perception of what Bar Harbor was going to be like. We also met a few people downtown at a restaurant's outdoor fireplace that had the same opinion.
We thought it was going to be a quaint town on the coast. It was very touristy with an abundance of t'shirt and souvenirs shops.
Our visit took place first week in October, lots of people. We found parking downtown, you just need some patience. The Chart House has a great happy hour on the pier out back, great cocktails $10 (not well, premium labels) and fresh oysters ($2ea)
Our recommendation would be to stay at a smaller town on the coast with access to Acadia National Park. The park has 40+ miles of bike trails, called carriage trails, and the drive up Cadillac Mountain is worth making a reservation on-line. Views from the top are beautiful
Located 10 minutes away from downtown Bar Harbor, this is the best place to stay at for a cozy & coastal home-away-from-home. At the time of booking, we didn't know what to expect because it was a 'motel'. But as soon as we drove in, saw the cute 'welcome sign' and entered the room, Hanscoms exceeded our expectations by a mile! With a large king-sized bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy coastal theme, and an open space for a community fire pit outside, you should stay here for your trip.
Fantastic location- very short walk into downtown Bar Harbor, very short drive to Acadia National Park. The best part about it was the people- Christopher, Constance and Penny were so warm, welcoming and helpful! I felt like I was staying with friends! The light breakfast options in the lobby, fresh baked cookies every afternoon, coffee all day and water bottle filler were all unexpected and so nice! The room was large and easily accommodated our party of 4.
This is our 2nd year visiting Acadia National Park and staying in best Western Acadia Inn..we love the place! Very accessible to the park and downtown.
The Inn is well maintained, staff are courteous and the breakfast is good..nothing extraordinary but decent and served hot.I love that the protocols for Covid prevention are being followed.
Plus is the pool which my kids loved!
For sure we will be back as we love Bar Harbor and will be staying at this Inn again.
Acadia Inn is a clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. Although it is a little bit of a walk from the main centre of Bar Harbor, it is conveniently located across the road from the Bistro, where we had some of our favourite meals. I thought the hotel offered excellent value for money.
The Inn was fantastic! Extremely clean with all the amenities you need. Location is great for walking all around town. Staff were wonderful. Charmaine at the front desk was so welcoming and helpful. Will definitely stay again and would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Bar Harbour.
Great location just minutes away from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. Much cheaper than staying in the middle of the city. The free Island Explorer bus stops right in front of the motel twice an hour to take you downtown if you don't want to drive. Renovated recently so felt clean.
Very close to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor. Parking across from the room was also very convenient. Cleaner was very creative with towel and toilet tissue decorations. Great job. Loved having outside seating and a table and chairs inside, too.
My friends and I have stayed here once before and like that it is pet friendly, has free-parking, and best of all, is walking distance to downtown and a quick 10 minute drive to Acadia itself. The staff were all very kind and accommodating.
We drove from Boston and arrived very later. The staff called to check with us. All hotel staff are very nice and friendly.
The hotel is at very convenient location and close to park and 10 mins walking to Bar Harbor downtown,
I liked the location of the Inn. It was in walking distance of the downtown area and the Harbor. It was extremely convenient for what we wanted to do. It was also located near shopping and businesses that we wanted to visit.
Really big room, lovely fireplace which helped given the weather. Front desk staff really helpful, pool very good, parking easy. 10 minutes from downtown, 10 minutes from Arcadia NP - perfect!
Location was perfect, parked at the hotel and walked all over Bar Harbor. The staff was super friendly and, best of all, room was clean and bed was really comfortable. Highly recommended!
The Villager Motel is right in the downtown action. Walking accessible to everything you need. We were able to walk to dinner and the Lulu Lobster boat the next morning.
Large room with ample furniture, comfortable bed, very conveniently located so that we could walk everywhere in downtown Bar Harbor. Plenty of parking on site.
