This hotel is 4 miles from downtown Birmingham and one mile from the Birmingham-Shuttleworth International Airport. The hotel offers a free airport shuttle and rooms with free WiFi. Everyone was very nice! The grill served excellent Philly steak sandwiches and the prices were reasonable. We did not have to leave the hotel property which was very nice. They even had airport parking for a very reasonable price. Will stay again if we fly out of Birmingham in the future. PS we left a Kindle and they are holding it for us when we return. Now that is GREAT service!

The staff were exceptional. They were very friendly and very interested- getting to know us through the week. The pre dinner snacks were amazing and actually were our dinner every night. The breakfast was good. The room was very comfortable.

I liked my stay but they could have been more detailed about breakfast times and accommodations. I had to go get breakfast when it was supposed to be complimentary and the kitchen was out of everything not happy with that.

I had to go out at night around 8pm near the hotel. But streets and area around the hotel were very dark could make out the streets and signs. I was going to walmart that was very near the hotel but it was hard to find my way around to walmart. Side note: people drive way too fast in the streets and parking lots

Cleaning lady came in twice before check out - we spoke Spanish to her bc she understood no English. Yet she tried to come In after being told to wait we were Checking out that date after Check out time. Nightmare Dont go here

We were there for an event at Samford. Only things to do are the botanical gardens and the zoo. Not much else after that. We ate at a restaurant called "Little Donkey". Mexican food with a Southern touch. Excellent foot and service. I highly highly recommend. Also ate at a BBQ place called Martins. Tenn. style BBQ. If you like vinegar based BBQ, the place is your spot. Good portions, fair prices and very comfortable spot.

City is coming back and has some attractive places, but of the many cities I've seen across 49 states, it's in the bottom 20 percent. Still, if you have to go, there are some worthwhile things to visit, such as the civil rights sites. Kelly Ingram park downtown is particularly worth visiting, as is the Civil Rights Institute across the street. Sixteenth Street Baptist Church is right there as well.
