It wasn't too crowded. Beautiful place. Restaurants a bit overpriced based on quality of food. Looking forward to eating my artisanal cheese and smoky pepper hummus from Rosewater specialty store.
Edgartown is the sweet spot if you are looking for nature, beauty and goodness of people. They are from a different era, it seems, and just the nicest from the heart. I loved every minute and recommend at least 3 days. The fish restaurants are tops, the town super cute (a bit expensive but not too bad) and so enjoyable!
You really do not need a car when going to Martha's Vineyard. The bus is amazingly accurate and easy to take any where you want to go. Bike rentals every where make it easy to enjoy out of the way places. The beaches are lovely. So many wonderful places to relax and enjoy a great cup of coffee. Dinner at Atlantic in Edgartown was wonderful. Expensive but, delicious. Oakbluffs is fun to walk around and get a late afternoon snack. Vineyard haven is peaceful and great to shop around. Each town has its own flavor but all are wonderful.
It was cold, wet and windy so this influenced our view of the place. Have wanted to see Chapaquiddick since I was sixteen years of age so job done! Impossible to get a decent cup of coffee whilst we were there and everything is very expensive....out of season it is Martha's Graveyard I'm afraid. Had to eat in hotel since everything else was shut. Need a car, we saw the whole island and when the sun did emerge it was very enjoyable. Clam Chowder at The Harbour View Hotel was sublime.
“Warm fresh cookies at 4:00PM. Innovative breakfasts which included poached eggs with bacon, cinnamon buns, cakes in warm maple syrup. Mostly we liked the warmth and friendliness of Julie and Marla who diligently operate the Hotel to maximum standards.”
“Large very comfortable room. Only 10 minute walk to centre of Edgartown. Adequate parking. Easy access to other towns on the island.”
“We stayed at 7 different locations on this trip and the beds were by far the comfiest. The decor at the property was lovely and it's in a superb location in the heart of Edgartown and right near the water.”
“The location and the friendly staff. The main hotel seemed very nice. We were accommodated in, and were allocated the whole of, an adjacent 4 bedroom property that was rather run down. To that extent we had a great deal, although of course we only needed a room.”
“The staff was so kind and welcoming, taking the time to chat with us about beaches on the Island and offer us warm cookies. They happily held our bags when we arrived at the hotel well before our check in and called me when our room ended up being ready a few hours earlier than expected too.”
“Lovely rooms and comfy beds . Great facilities and pool area. Beautiful interiors . Staff generally wanted to help and make our stay wonderful ...”
“Bed comfortable. Loved the cookies and milk in evenings.”
“A wonderful old style hospitality in beautiful surroundings.”
“I really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The inn was nicely restored and maintained. It was very close to downtown, but still quiet.”
“Wonderful staff headed up by Julie and her team Othibg was too much trouble we felt very special”
