Erie is my hometown and return each summer.
Erie is my hometown and return each summer. The Peninsula is nice, Waldameer amusement and water park is great for families, fishing and boating are popular, lots of shopping on Upper Peach Street. The zoo is very nice, plenty of golf courses, The Warner Theater rivals anything that I've been to in NYC, several independent restaurants and bars. Sometimes traffic is slow, several homes in the heart of town are well over 100 years old, sidewalks not maintained. Lake Erie sunsets on the beach can't be beat. Make sure to check which beaches in presque isle are open for swimming and if any of the attractions (like waldameer) are closed. Visited Presque Isle and a museum. Had dinner at Golden Corral, and the food was excellent. Getting around Erie was a nightmare--WAY too many one-way streets. Totally unnecessary. I love erie I used to live there and miss it. It's a great place to go fishing. There are beaches and waldermer park. There are plenty of things to do. If you go to erie check out to see when erie days is they have alot of different food when they hold this event and lots of music it's in downtown erie so there are streets blocked during this time. If you want to relax, the paved trails along the bay in Presque Isle State Park are for you. If you want a beach, there are miles of beaches - some with concession stands, changing areas, life guards, some without. Sarah's at the entrance to the park has ice cream, foot long hot dogs, chicken tenders, burgers, drinks, etc. A little chaotic when busy, but it flows surprisingly well. You can rent bikes, boats, etc. Plenty of shopping opportunities in plazas close to park and, of course, the town of Erie.Guest review byPaulineUnited States - 10.0

Erie is a nice city to visit. There are many activities and alot of sightseeing opportunities. Visiting the Erie Zoo is always a nice activity. it is a smaller zoo so it takes about an hour or an hour and a half to tour. The people at the zoo are very helpful and answer questions promptly. there is fishing, nice beaches and alot of local novelty things to see.Guest review byAnonymous
