A great little town with several really good places to eat.

A great little town with several really good places to eat. The only negative is the road up into the Yellowstone park is NOT a fun drive. It is narrow, steep and twisting with poorly banked curves - much of it 15mph. It is temporary after the flood a few years ago but for now, it’s a stressful way to begin and end the day

We love Gardiner due to the proximity of it to Lamar Valley and wildlife viewing. It's less busy / touristy than West Yellowstone. Getting around is very easy. Wonderland Cafe & Lodge is one of my favorite restaurants of anywhere. So good that we end up having dinner there each night. The grocery store in town is also pretty good with a nice selection of everything you could think of.

Great location for the north entrance into Yellowstone National Park. Getting around is easy with no rush traffic. There are plenty of business for alternative activities, such as horseback riding, ziplining, and white water rafting. No fine dining. Limited local food options with a limited menu. The Ridge Mine restaurant is one of the best.

We ate dinner at the Cowboy Grill, which was great fun and hearty food. Staff were great, too. You'll love the decor--especially if you approve of the 2nd amendment!🥳 The town seems to have lots of fun restaurants etc. Sorry we only had one night there.

The last time we stayed near Yellowstone, we rented a place...

The last time we stayed near Yellowstone, we rented a place in West Yellowstone. West Yellowstone is too touristy and overpriced. Gardiner was a welcome relief, and the location is much closer to Mammoth Hot Springs and the North entrance to the Park. The Northern entrance is much closer to the wildlife in Lamar Valley, and during winter the only accessible road to Yellowstone is the Northern route from Gardiner to Cooke City.

Gardiner is a small town and very walkable. Great after a long car ride sightseeing in the park. The couple of restaurants we tried were good. The Yellowstone Perk, great coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Service was warm and friendly. Dinner at Wonderland Cafe, twice. Good options excellent and service good. Definitely need a reservation. Watch out out for the wondering elk in town.

The information was deceiving. When we book the room, The information for THAT ROOM implies that it is facing the river. We told the staff that when we arrived and she said that that is a common miss conception of guests and it was Booking.COM issue not theirs.! We canceled other hotel for this one thinking about the river view and that was disappointing. The rooms were nice, clean and very small but ok for one night.

This is a small, family-owned group of rooms set in a quiet part of Gardiner. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with microwave oven and coffee-maker but no tea or other cooking facilities. The heat pump is quiet and the wifi signal is decent.
