Grafton is a great town that has really been hurt by flooding. I urge everyone to help their businesses by going to Grafton to enjoy the scenery, food, hiking, horseback riding, and water sports. It's a great area that needs our support. We loved Aerie's Winery and Restaurant...stunning views and great food. O'Jans fish stand...cheap eats, great views. Drifters...again, excellent food and excellent views. Pere Marquette State Park...beautiful hiking trails that are well marked and suitable for most people.
Super nice people...truly proud of their town and what it offers. The slogan “Key West of the Midwest “ perfect!!! Highly recommend!!! I will definitely be visiting often!!! Extremely accommodating.
Visit the wineries, especially Aeries. What a scenic view and delicious sangria!! Fun times had for sure at local bars and The Loading Dock down by the river!! We love staying at the Ruebel.....make sure to try their pizza! Take a day trip down to Alton or St. Charles. Great little shops!
Everything is within walking distance. Cute river town. We ate at the oyster bar and the food was very good. Had some drinks at Aries winery. Nice view but you will want to drive up there,it's in the bluffs.
We returned to Grafton after a 20 yr. gap. It still feels the same - a quirky little river town with no pretentions. From the amount of lodgings available, it looked like it could be busy in summertime, but it was quiet and pleasant and just busy enough for us in late February. We didn't have time to explore any of the shops except for the "wood" shop, which was fascinating and addicting. Loved it! Hope to come back soon to this great little town.
There were a lot of great little shops and bars. The views were pretty amazing, and the people were generally very friendly. There was so much to do, and a lot of it within walking distance. Very nice place for an overnight anniversary stay.
