Lots of good restaurants in the Grand Junction area, good...
Lots of good restaurants in the Grand Junction area, good book stores, and a sweet gift shop called Rebel Treasures with unique items and a very nice owner right next to the Goat and Clover Tavern. ebiking was great--paved paths right off Las Colonias park area. Gmaps said it was closed Labor Day but we didn't find any closures. Palisade is nearby, where we rode in the streets, picked our own peaches, tasted some wine. Always love stopping at Restoration Vineyards for wine, fun, and food. We hit a few ice cream spots, Third Bowl Homemade Ice cream has some unique flavors and really friendly personnel. Graff Dairy is fun. Palisade had The Milky Way, really friendly and very good gelato. The Pie Shop in Palisade has marvelous pies, hand pies, full size pies, etc.--so many choices and changing all the time. The Grand Mesa is nearby, a nice drive through the forest with a lot of lakes. Grand Junction has lots of outdoor activities. Hiking - either the National Monument Mesas or along the Colorado River. Fishing along the river, mountain drives up to Grand Mesa, and exploring great little towns - Palisades which has one of the best Sunday Farmers Markets in the US. Peach Season (Mid Aug Mid Sept) is awesome. Also check out the rodeo in Fruita - every Tuesday night! Grand Junction is another wonderful Colorado town with its own separate history. Lots of trees, lots of architecture, and a community pride in their Main Street. An easily walkable, safe winding old town city street with family shops and special art displays. There are 4 major hotels near the convention center and downtown and any one of them are very desirable to stay. Grand Junction, this is not a location town. People super unfriendly, businesses unprofessional. I was there working with a nonprofit, as a fly on a wall. I observed the pro-Trump workers first hand. The whole town is Pro Trump, not a lot of diversity which is sad. Love all the places in Colorado, except this place. Grand Junction has that small town feel in a big city. Offers everything a big city does. Friendly people and a absolutely gorgeous, beautiful area. Very scenic there and all the communities around there within miles. The population is perfect. I'm sure there's much more it offers than I have listed but I'm a fine artist so the "sightseeing" was plenty enough for me. I love it!Guest review byHayenga
