Our main reason for staying in Guerneville was to go to Purple Pachyderm winery (as a big Primus fan). Guerneville was a great base to explore the region from all the vineyards, to the redwood forest and some great breweries. Guerneville is tiny but very welcoming. The abundance of flora and fauna, not to mention towering redwoods makes you feel that you are almost off the grid. If you close your eyes, you can hear all the birds and smell the warmth of millions of square feet of redwood bark. Meh….whatever beaches were accessible were closed and hard to find. The Anderson redwood grove is beautiful but not dog friendly for trail hiking.
