FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

We live on the other Island of Hawaii that is much more of a country feeling and we like to visit Honolulu for great shopping and restaurants, but we also do enjoy Honolulu beaches. Waikiki and all beaches along you can walk along for hours on those pleasant sandy beaches. My family loves Honolulu and we try to come here couple times a year. Nice city to visit with kids. Don't forget about waterpark Wet'n'Wild, Kid's City for little kids and many more attractions.

Loved walking at Waikiki Beach, it had the bluest sea, although it was a little crowded. In alamoana shopping center really recommend shabuya restaurant, we recommend putting your name on the list through Yelp ahead of time because there is sometimes a 2 hr wait. But well worth it.

It wasn't quite what I was expecting.

It wasn't quite what I was expecting. I guess my fantasy mind saw Tiki Shacks and dirt roads. The area I stayed in Near Waikiki Beach was highly developed and quite busy but was uncomfortable area to be in. Lots of good restaurants all the way down to food trucks and lots of shops for shopping. The beaches were very well kept and very well controlled and there was police presence everywhere. Seemed almost like overkill, I didn't see any issues anywhere for the 8 days I was there. I'd be happy to go back someday.

Honolulu is a big city with big city shops and many different restaurants. There is alway a lot of people walking in the Waikiki area and you have to be mindful of that when driving. Traffic can be a bit of a lesson. You just need to know which way the traffic flow is going at different times of the day. While not needed, I would recommend a rental car to really explore the island. The bus is a reasonable means of getting around, but waiting at bus stops is not anything I would want to do.

    High end shopping, fabulous centers.

High end shopping, fabulous centers. The Pearl Harbor tour exceeded expectations (Viator, ENoa tours), but the traffic was congested everywhere in Honolulu and Waikiki. We will not return to Oahu, but will go back to Maui. Dinner at the Aloha Steak house in Waikiki was the best we have ever experienced. Superb steak, excellent servers. North Shore was beautiful, but congested traffic again. Two Costco.

The rooms and bathrooms were large. The location was perfect, close to everything. The plants and such on the property were beautiful and made it feel like Hawaii! It was nice having a continental breakfast, ice water and a lanai. It was also nice to have beach towels to use when going to the beach! We appreciated the hotel storing our luggage between the time of check out until the time we needed to head to the airport which was about six hours!

Location was great… lots of stores & food nearby. Waikiki Market 2 blocks away (upstairs) had the best selection. International marketplace is across the street. Only 2 blocks to the beach. Prices are expensive everywhere, but that’s Hawaii these days. Room with kitchenette had everything we needed. The air conditioner worked well. Staff were friendly & willing to help with anything. No pool, but we are there for the beach & ocean.

I am born and raised in Hawaii and took my daughter back to show her where I came from. I live in Australia. Did the big real local vibe but needed some tourist action. Love the hotel love the room… But Waikiki is something I will do only on the occasion. Room was amazing and views were incredible, but everything else was just a bit chaotic. Hospitality of staff was incredible! on my return, I will always connect to this hotel/resort. 🌺❤️

Staff were very friendly - the service was great. The location was fantastic- almost on the beach! ABC store in the building which was reasonable (given Hawaii prices) for water/food/alcohol. The hotel has an agreement with an equipment rental shop slightly up the street where you can get 3 items per room per day for free eg beach chairs and umbrellas. beach towels were also provided for free at the hotel itself.

Location can not be matched! We were from beach to the bath in a few minutes. The room was dated but exceptionally clean. Serviced everyday. Staff were phenomenal. We were locked out of our room having left a room key in there. Someone was up to open it for us within 5 mins. The Restaurant was fantastic. We loved the hipster vibe of the entire hotel. Just a few blocks walk to the luxury shopping strip and closer to Waikiki beach than we expected. This is a dog hotel which we did not realise on booking. They have strict dog rules and there were no problems at all. The coffee shop had fantastic esspresso coffee which is hard to find in Hawaii.

Great location with amazing views right on the beach. The adults only infinity pool is a major winner for this hotel. Rooms are really well renovated.
