FAQs about hotels in Houston

Space, Sports and Sheer Size

Ever since a problem was encountered on Apollo 13, Houston has been an international household name. The 4th largest US city, it is home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center where Mission Control is located. Of course, this is not its only claim to fame. This is Texas after all, where everything is big.

Houston’s Reliant Astrodome was the world’s first indoor sports stadium under a domed roof, and the Galleria is the largest mall in Texas. The city’s Livestock Show and Rodeo is the largest in the world, and the JP Morgan Chase Tower is the planet’s tallest 5-sided building. The list goes on.

Amid the skyscrapers of the thriving CBD is the Toyota Center, home of the city’s NBA and AHL teams. The theatre district is also in the downtown area, whereas the museum district is concentrated to the north-east of Hermann Park, home of a boating lake, nature reserve and miniature railway. Also here is Houston Zoo, and just west is Rice University, one of several in the city.

The bohemian Rice Village is popular with students, as are the city’s historic pubs and leafy parks. Houston also has no shortage of restaurants or accommodation options. Those on Booking.com include motels, apartments and hotels near George Bush Airport.

I'm visiting Houston for work but from the food to the weather and places to see I'm looking forward to my next visit--and hopefully will even get to the Johnson Space Center! From the Goode Company to Whataburger I'm wishing I had brought some tasty treats home with me.

I like Houston and have been there before with my family.

I like Houston and have been there before with my family. Lots of museums, planetariums and activities to keep children engaged. Great restaurants that serve a variety of cuisines. On this trip we drove into the city, and it is easy to navigate. The George Brown Convention Center is very popular and was a great site for this convention. It faces onto a park which that week was also celebrating Korea week, with pop-up tent vendors selling various wares and Korean foods, many dressed in traditional garb. Nearby there was a music center that had different acts playing every night to large crowds.

I stayed in room 162 and there wasn't any outlet working I couldn't charge my phone. I did get any breakfast I had to charge my phone in my vehicle and it wasn't charge enough to get into the Houston Texans game.

Pros: Plenty of shopping and dining, some areas are beautiful, peaceful and safe. Cons: Outside of the few beautiful places, you can expect a lot of loitering and being called out to give them money as you walk around. Additionally the city is very large and things are spread far and wide, making it pretty much required to have your own transportation, as public transport is lacking and ride sharing is more expensive than many other cities.

After missing an international longhaul flight at 10pm, I needed to find a hotel. My call to the SpringHill Suites Houston was immediately answered, concise instructions were given on finding the shuttle, which arrived within 5 minutes, the receptionist provided me with a few snacks and I was so glad to find myself safe for the night. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The next day I was able to sit in the lobby rather than going to the airport, a much nicer way to spend 6 hours.

Nothing to like about this property. We called the host on arrival to try and get details to get in, we were told she had put someone else in the property despite one booking and to call booking.com to deal with it. Booking.com has never picked up, we have lost a lot of money and this left us stranded in downtown Houston at midnight without a place to stay.

It´s good option for a night before your next flight, close to the airpot. Room was fine, nothing special, but there is all you need. You can make your own waffles for breakfast. We took UBER to downtown for 27 USD to see Houston at night.
