Must be amazing in winter...we just came to fish in the summer. The locals are friendly enough but they clearly had fishing going on in town but they kept referring me to a lake that was in another. What would greatly improved this township would be a little app or even old school map of the area with insider summer activity spots and how to get there. Its hard to tell in a small town like this where to go and how. Would recommend beau jos for pizza, piccis is alright but not to the same caliber. The area of Miner street was nice, but you have to find it, the main street you drive in on doesn't take you there. Lot of little shops and restaurants, it would be great if they had more parking.
Idaho springs is probably best known for its hot springs nowadays. But it’s where the gold rush started! So you can tour the Argo mine, great fishing in public areas, go skiing in Loveland 20-30 minutes away, visit Georgetown for train rides or in the summer go white water rafting and do obstacle courses.
Best thing about the stay was the barbeque restaurant in town Smokin Yard Barbeque - best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had and good prices - actually ate there on our way back home to Ohio - There was a really good ice cream place - kind of pricey but really good
great place for a weekend getaway. Restaurants were. A one. Stop at the Main Street Restaurant for Lobster Benedict. Fantastic .Buffalo Restaurant great Fried Green Tomatoes. MTN Prime Restaurant tried the Strawberry Brie and the Mussels. Both were terrific. You have to go yo The Indian Hot Springs pool. Try the private Jacuzzi and get a massage. Well worth the money. Easy to travel around and find parking downtown where all the restaurants are.
Idaho Springs in itself is an old mining town that has utilized its old buildings to create a welcoming tourist destination. After the disaster with our lodging at Columbine Inn. We found rooms at the Argo Inn for that night overlooking a beautiful mountain stream. The lodging had tables and chairs with in a few feet of the river and we were relaxing with a bottle of wine and snacks watching rafters go by when we saw a movement across the river up on the mountain. Turned out to be seven big horned sheep coming down to get a drink, Awsome! We had lunch and dinner at MNT Prime Steak House. Staff and food were excellent! The next morning after checking out we visited the Main St. Cafe were on their menu they had six variations of Eggs Benedict among other breakfast items. Eggs Benedict was our favorite, each one having a different version. All in all Idaho Springs is a nice destination!
The newly created playground for kids was amazing. One way in One way out. High fencing as it was on the water...it was beautiful. Small town feel .. people were friendly .. great food....cute shops...affordable shopping.
