Key West is a gem of an island in the Florida Keys, popular with pleasure seekers and history buffs alike. As the most southern destination in the continental United States, Key West has a fascinating history, dating back to its settlement by Spanish explorers in the 16th century.
Today, this little island off the coast of Florida attracts over a million cruise visitors a year through the Port of Key West. Visitors come to see Hemingway House, where Ernest Hemingway penned "A Farewell to Arms." Key West Cemetery provides a unique walk through the multicultural past of the city. There are also trolley rides through the historic district of Jackson Square.
There’s more than just history to Key West, however. Smathers Beach is a place to have fun in the sun, while Mallory Square provides the chance to shop and watch a magnificent sunset. The excellent bus system helps you get around the island without a car.
Key West International Airport is a mere 4 miles from Duval Street, the heart of downtown and a good place to stay for easily exploring the nearby sights. With accommodations ranging from resorts to B&Bs, Booking.com helps you get the best stay for the best price in Key West!
We love the free Duval Loop for getting around town. They even have an app where you can track the busses. We enjoyed the Butterfly habitat immensely. We've been before and have ferretted out drinking and dining venues that meet our expectations for value and quality. There are definitely some overrated and overpriced places, some tourist lures and some low quality joints. We definitely prefer the southern end for accommodations. It's quieter, especially in the evening. We live on the Gulf Coast, so the beach is not the attraction for us. We're more interested in historical and ecological adventures along with bed and breakfast type stays. We always do... The Green Parrot because you have to; First Flight for its history and coolest bar crafted from airplane wings, superior HH and great apps; Ocean for a lovely high end experience without airs; Mojoes, especially on Tue We tried... Martins and stumbled into HH which included $5 martinis! and 1/2 price tapas.
Key West has great sunrises and sunsets. Crystal clear water, such a beautiful place. I can't say for all of Key West but everyone person that I dealt with working there are very nice. A lot to see and do if you enjoy history
The hotel was decent. The people were very friendly. They would help you any way they could. Key West was fun. The mixed up on rooms was on booking.com. The information was incorrect about the room. The Gates Hotel and 24 North are working together but if you want to stay at the hotel you want make sure you specify the Hotel.
Great place to visit - lots of restaurants and bars as well as museums and art galleries etc. Most attractions are within walking distance but there is plenty of transport available including a hop on hop off bus service and rental bikes, scooters and golf carts (all at a reasonable price). Food and drink is much cheaper than in Miami.
Key West has a very laided back feel. Reminds me of my hippie days in San Francisco (1967-69 summers of Love). A negative Someone told me once that all it is ...Is bars and tee-shirt shops. That is sort of true but there is alot more than that. The musicians, artists, art galleries, hand made jewelry, etc. Or just a lay in the sun, on a chair, next to a pool or ocean and listen to the roosters crow. Chickens and roosters run free everywhere. I have been to key west 6 or more times. And I have done all the touristy visitations, ride the "HOP ON & OFF". Now I just go to relax and enjoy the "sphere". ALways visit the Butterfly Conservatory each time. Sets the mood. Key West is like never leaving the "SPA". (After a good SPA visit, that feeling you have)
We stayed at 24 North. Review were not so accurate about their value. I think it’s one of the best good value hotels I could searched for in this island. Perfect location and very friendly staffs. It may not have entrance to the beach but that isn’t what we had expected anyway. Ocean view is perfect enough. If one wants to go to beach, they will simply drive to accessible beach nearby. Hotel is only 5 mins to downtown. 10 mins to Duval street. Overall Key West is my best destination so far beside Disney parks. Many activities for families such as snorkeling, swimming, walking along the cultural rich museums. Food is good but a little pricey.
Downtown Key West, Key West
Loved the location-one block from Duval but on the east end of the island-much quieter, less traffic and more laid back. The room we had was super clean and comfortable. Bed was OK but the mattress is due to be replaced. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Free off street parking is only a block from the hotel-not many places offer this for free. Pool area was quiet and relaxing. Overall I rate this location as excellent. This will be our place to stay the next time we visit Key West.
This was the best stay in the last 2 years out of 30-40 different hotels and motels we did. Amazing location, amazing units (very well equipped, luxury, premium furniture and applicances, towels), nice views to the ocean, great pool area with a decent bar. It felt luxurious. I don't regret too often not staying more in the hotel rather than exploring the area but this place was so nice that I do. Staff was friendly, helpful.
Downtown Key West, Key West
Alexys was absolutely the best! She touched base the day of check in to be sure we knew what to do if we were going to have a late check-in. She was very informative on the property, the area, and how to get where we wanted to go. This hotel is in the HEART of Key West - equal distance from Mallory Square and the Southernmost Point and conveniently situated close to Duval St.
Downtown Key West, Key West
I honestly didn’t expect much from this hotel, especially at the price point of being one of the cheapest options in Key West. I was very impressed. Location was excellent with short walking distance to Duval st and the beach. Room was quite spacious for Key West, had a fridge and a smart tv in the room. Staff was very nice and accomodating as well
The room was lovely, the whole hotel was stunning, the pool and beach area especially. Room was very big, beds comfy. Thought the distance from the centre was a downfall but it was really easy to get ubers and was actually nice to be away from the hustle. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again if I go back to Key West.
A lovely small hotel in a great location in Key West. it is closed we to Duval Street, but not too close to be noisy. Every member of the staff was very good—professional, courteous and friendly. The rooms are comfortable, clean, well-appointed (loved having the mini fridge and microwave oven) and the small balcony is cozy for two people.
We spent two nights there to visit Key West - as the hotel provides a regular shuttle service till about 10 p.m. it is no big deal to get to the city. This worked perfectly so we didn't use our car during the stay. The pool was nice, sometimes a bit noisy from air traffic. Breakfast was ok so far, the rooms are spacious and very clean.
Key West
This resort looks like it was built as the only thing near it. One could hang out there for a week, lots to experience. It was fun, anachronistic, a little worn. Unfortunately we only came to sleep, had stuff to do elsewhere. It was shockingly expensive, but the cheapest hotel with private rooms and baths that we could find near Key West.
Key West
The hotel was great. It was super clean, modern and had a lovely pool. The staff were awesome and we loved the salty oyster bar. We liked that it was quiet and out of the busyness of downtown key west though we really appreciated the shuttle bus that ran every 30 mins to and from downtown.
Downtown Key West, Key West
The staff were all friendly, The Tiki bar especially Mindy her chat and hospitality and local knowledge were fantastic. The general ambience and the free parking. The location in the Old town Free coffee and the best tasting lemonade in Key West in the Foyer
Downtown Key West, Key West
Great location on Duval Street, nice little room equipped with everything you need and decent breakfast (limited options but enough to start the day right). We would come back and recommend the place to friends and family for a short stay in Key West
Downtown Key West, Key West
Beautiful boutique hotel, excellent location for walking in Key West! Lee at the office was very helpful and always friendly! The pools are wonderful!
Downtown Key West, Key West
Cute property very close to Duval and the downtown key west area. Was also very close to another hotel that my family members were staying at.
Key West
Excellent facilities with fabulous views . Great pools. Live music at night Free shuttle bus as the hotel is 25 mins from downtown key west
A beautiful, simple hotel in the heart of Key West, complete with a delightful cat who lounges by the pool like a king.
I liked the city. Key west is very charming. The hotel is located on a main street and easy to find.
