Beautiful hotel perfectly situated to enjoy the town. The rooms and baths are huge, clean, and very tastefully decorated. For me, it was an unexpected, oh wow, experience. Parking is on the street and was no issue. There are plenty of spaces and no crime in the area. The price is amazing. The one potential issue would be the lack of an elevator. If the first floor is booked, you'll have to take the gorgeous stairs. Extra points, a lot of extra points, for providing a real coffee pot with fresh ground coffee that doesn't come in a plastic bag and big porcelain mugs to drink it from.

I grew up in the area and thus never had a reason to stay at Clifty Inn during my childhood. Returning for a family event, I knew I wanted to check it out. We got a riverview room which granted my children an amazing view to wake up to and the value and size of the room was perfect. Would love to stay here again!

The house is beautiful! Everything was very welcoming and clean. Melodie is the best! She explained how everything would work and was available for any questions we had. She served us an outstanding breakfast on Sunday.

This is the epitome of a Hallmark town.

This is the epitome of a Hallmark town. The historic buildings are absolutely charming. Everything downtown is a locally owned small business, and they take pride in their shops. There are several boutique hotels and B&Bs within walking distance to everything. The restaurants are filled with locals, so you know the food is fantastic! There are places for every budget, so you can have an affordable time as well as a good time.

Madison is a lovely small town.

Madison is a lovely small town. Unfortunately, we went on a Wednesday before Memorial Day, and quite a few stores were closed. They are doing a great job of cleaning up after the flooding, and I expect it will be picture perfect by month's end. We even met the Mayor, who happened to be walking by as we discussed which way to go, and stopped to chat.

There wasn't anything I could mention I didn't like. Every person I interacted with was kind, pleasant and helpful. There is historical things to explore, nature things, shops, food, booze, and all matter of fun things for all ages. I really enjoy coming to Madison and look forward to my next trip!

One of the best small cities I’ve ever visited. History, river walk, architecture, small businesses, no chains in the historic section, close to a beautiful state park. Perfect place to explore. Scenic and clean.

    Food is amazing.

Food is amazing. You can’t possibly eat at all the great places. This time we discovered Pizza Uncommon, which has a ton of unique (and vegan) options (and great staff with great taste in music). Shops are so much fun - window displays certainly draw you in. Candy shops and bakeries and coffee shops and theaters and antiques… I’ve hiked in CliftyFallsStatePark, 1mile west of town. I’ve enjoyed festivals. I have so many other festivals I want to attend! Lots of the side streets/intersections had been recently re-paved and were a breeze to walk around.

Wow! This hotel is a gem. Converted cotton mill with loads of history that is really well converted to a comfortable stay with a good atmosphere. The view across the river is outstanding and it is in easy walk of all the sights and restaurants in excellent Madison. The staff were so helpful and courteous and worked hard to make sure we had a memorable stay.

If I were to open a hotel this is exactly what I would want to do - a brilliant use of the earlier structure, beautifully done with a real eye for design and details. Wonderfully comfortable whilst not changing for features that are rarely ever used - no need for a reception desk or staff, so everyone saves money!

The hotel was super clean and the breakfast was great with several options to choose from including scrambled eggs and freshly made waffles. It is located very close to Clifty falls and about 7 minutes by car from Madison. We really enjoyed the little pool as well.
