I liked that it was close to Bloomington so we were able to visit the mall where we went shopping and walked through the aquarium. It was super fun walking around and finding bars/restaurants to sit and have a drink at during the day. Downtown was very clean and lively. I would avoid looking for any breakfast places past 9am, as they are all packed full with huge lines.
It’s Minneapolis. Have been many times, I know it’s been in the news recently but the reality is it’s decent enough city that had some troubles for a minute. I’ve been going there for over twenty years for concerts and just to spend time. There and St. Paul are good places to experience a larger city culture and vibe without being too large if that makes sense. Very approachable in that sense.
I was running behind so my partner checked it (even without his name on the room) although I am happy that he was able to check in for us, it's weird they let him in. Finally I got there and told them who I was and they checked my I.D. and gave me my room key, which was completely different to what they gave my partner. Kinda scary they're just giving out whatever room key to whomever. Also the amenities are like a super i hotel, stated we would have robs and did not. The A/C unit barely worked, so they room was hot all night. Parking in the ramp was a mess, which I still had to pay for but yet had received an email that it was free. It's unfortunate, it's a pretty great location for downtown, but I'd much rather pay a extra 100$ at a more well known hotel.
Dowtown is either deserted during the weekend, or (as I was told) a madhouse when the Vikings play at home. Neither option is nice. There are some nice spots to visit like the Riverfront and the Walker Art Center with its Sculpture Garden, but one day is enough. Dinner at Owamni by The Sioux Chief was excellent, though. The Guthrie theater, designed by Jean Novel, is an impressive building as well.
We used public transportation to get to and from the airport and for all of our transportation needs. Our hotel was located in the City Center area of downtown Minneapolis. For the most part, people are friendly and easy to talk to. I'm sure there are places to visit that require a rental car but we didn't see the need. The main purpose of the visit was to see the Twins play which is part of my quest to see all of the Major Leagues baseball parks. Target Field and Target Center were walking distance from the hotel. US Bank Stadium (NFL Vikings) is a longer walk or a light rail ride away. There are many places to eat in the downtown area. Pickings are a little slimmer on weekends when all of the offices are closed. Also many eating places located in office buildings close early and not available for dinner. There are many other choices and can be moderately priced to expensive.
We go to Minneapolis regularly, and we enjoy the theatre, restaurants, and antique shops. That being said, it is crucial to be proactive about safety while visiting. My daughter and I did experience an attempted robbery in the middle of the day. Even after this event, we continue to return, but we are more cautious about walking in unknown areas. Neighborhoods can change drastically within just a few blocks of each other, so research and know where you are heading and your best route before you set out.
The room was super clean and every staff member was friendly and efficient! We were lucky enough to have time to eat breakfast in the hotel the next morning. The food was delicious and our waiter was amazing...he gave us many opportunities to learn more about downtown Minneapolis and treated us to his delightful sense of humor!! Parking under the hotel was super convenient and we were able to walk to every event we had planned, saving us Uber fees. I would definitely stay here again.
Neat hotel overall. It's an older building that left a lot of that same charm from the times and long with some modern flare. The room was a good size with nice amenities. The shades needed to be closed the whole time as it felt like I'd be able to jump through the window into the window of the next building, or next part of the building. Decent location. Never fun paying $30+ for parking (not via the hotel), but fully expected it given it was downtown Minneapolis.
Great location. Convenient to many restaurants and theatres. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean and quiet. The in-room coffee was the best hotel coffee I've ever had and the rainhead shower was awesome! I love that the decor/style of the hotel was unique and that it didn't feel like a chain hotel. Lots of options for parking close by. We found a church lot that was only $7 for the night (weekend rate).
I was impressed with this hotel... friendly, efficient staff. The hotel Normandy was very clean and the bed was comfortable & the shower was updated. The pool area was really nice & my husband said the pool though small was the perfect temperature. Loved that the pet fee was only 10$ & the little outdoor area available to take out our dog. And the location of the hotel was great, very convenient & close to The Armory.
Honestly this was an incredible stay, I can't fault it really. It had everything we needed and more, everything was new and modern. Decor is beautiful, facilities were perfect. I've travelled a decent amount in all different accommodation types and I feel like it had all the social opportunities you find in a hostel and all the comfort from a hotel. Quality stay!
The room was OK, nothing special but a very nice shower. The building is nice, an old bank converted into a hotel. Other than that, not up to Westin standards. The only (very) bright spot was Natasha at the check-in counter, very nice, efficient and very helpful in giving us directions and suggesting places to go.
Very nice hotel staff! They upgraded our hotel room for my birthday(: beautiful view. Although the location for some people might be kind of confusing, it is Minneapolis. I would definitely stay here again! I would recommend getting the corner king suite.
Ryan at the front desk was exceptional - the place was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. I would highly recommend this Residence Inn to anyone considering staying in downtown Minneapolis
You’re less than 20 minutes away from most attractions in Minneapolis. Front desk was super nice, breakfast was small but complete. Nice quiet area. We got upgraded to a king which was a nice surprise!
The location was perfect. Central to everything downtown. The skywalk is accessible from the hotel so in the colder months you don't even need to go outside to see the Downtown sights!
I enjoy having a hotel room at the same location of the conference. The size of the room was amazing, the shower was exceptional, and the staff was very friendly.
Very beautiful hotel, festive holiday decorations, stylish room, and the breakfast at the restaurant was amazing. Great cappuccino. Easy access from the airport.
The hotel is a very lovely hotel. Nice decor and clean rooms. Breakfast restaurant was good with good customer service, unlike the dinner restaurant.
I took the light rail from MSP airport. The hotel was downtown which was perfect for my visit. The room was great, couldn't ask for more.
Excellent hotel. Beautiful building and very nice decoration inside. Restaurant inside the hotel. Other restaurants not to far away.
Great hotel on the University of Minnesota campus. Nice large room! Walking distance to the light rail and convenient to downtown!
