Located 12.5 miles from Ahalanui Park in Pahoa, Hawaii, this bed and breakfast offers garden views and a free continental breakfast complete with homemade bread and jam. A full breakfast is $15. We had a wonderful stay at the Tropic Inn! Irene, the owner, is an amazing host, you can really feel that for her running this B&B is a dream come true. Every morning she prepaired a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit from her tropical garden, Kona Coffee, homemade marmelades, juice etc. She also served other local products like bread and yogurt. She gave us a LOT of really good tips, as she knows the island like a true Hawaiian or maybe even better... The room was very big and clean, the beds were comfortable and the shared bathroom was also perfect. Towels were changed really often, as there is a lot of humidity, but there was no bad smell at all, which was great being in the middle of the jungle. You can park the car in front of the house (yes, you definitely need a car to move around!!!) and wifi was working really good. The Tropic Inn is close to the last lava flow, which ist very interesting to see ("end of the road" nearby...). It is a really good location to visit the Vulcano national park and Hilo, amongst others. We definitely recommend this accomodation and wouldn't want to stay elsewhere on Big Island (we know, we have to come back;-))
Situated in Pahoa in the Hawaii Island region and Kaimu Beach reachable within a few steps, Ma'ukele Lodge features accommodation with free WiFi, BBQ facilities, a private beach area and free private... Absolutely phenomenal stay! Raven and Mark went way beyond my expectations in terms of what they offered as part of the B&B. When they learned it was our babymoon, they put us in the Hawaiian suite with private garden, outdoor shower and tub. The fridge had delicious Hawaiian fruits, snacks, and drinks. It was very considerate of them to gift us some baby soap as well. Mark cut open a fresh coconut for us to try. We appreciated all the advice about what to do in the area as well as the account of the recent lava flow and how it impacted the area. If you're looking for a B&B, do not hesitate to stay here! Highly recommend!
Located in Pahoa, Hale “Hā Hā” is an apartment boasting BBQ facilities. Hale “Hā Hā” features views of the garden. Free private parking is available on site. Very warm welcome, and we got a lot of tips what we shouldn't miss to see. If you're looking for a quiet place to stay this the right place.
Located in Pahoa, within 10 km of Lava Tree State Monument and 30 km of Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo, Hale Nonno provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for... Beautiful property, great location amazing breakfast provided. will definitely return for another state.
Featuring garden views, Tropical Zen Bungalow provides accommodation with a patio and a kettle, around 2.6 km from Kehena Black Sand Beach. This place is a little paradise and Abbie the host is adorable, flexible and very helpful! We loved being able to relax and have breakfast in the mornings in the veranda, which is protected by a mosquito net. This gem is surrounded by lush green Nature and is quiet and very peaceful. Very well furnished - had everything we needed. Hope to be back one day!
Close to the most recent lava flows, Lava Tree State Monument, Star of the Sea Painted Church and scenic coastal drives. Nice small town with several places to eat. We particularly liked Pho 19 and the Smoothie Shack. Olympic size public pool. Lap swimming is free!
Try to go to Uncle Roberts place at the end of the road on Wednesday nights. Quite the experience. Other things around the area offer lots of lava and the state and national parks (especially the ones on the water) are amazing. Great remote place like no other.
Love Pahoa and it's aloha spirit, a community devastated and dealing with so much after last year's eruption. My visit was primarily to meet with friends and to make a minor contribution to the community struggling to rebuild and recover from Tutu Pele's "redecorating". The relocated Volcano museum was educational and Vincent made my day! Mahalo Vincent! Don't miss the opportunity for lunch or dinner at Kaleo's ….ono food!
Pahoa is a great town, the hub between Hilo and the Kapoho area. It offers great food, wonderful ways to enjoy the natural beauty, and a wonderful farmers market on Sundays with live music, great food and a wonderful way to meet people -- perfect for solo travelers.
A really beautiful place with gorgeous gardens. The owner was friendly, and had put together a list of local, queer-friendly events going on throughout the week! Having just the few, select rooms made for some great conversations with the other folks there (including the owner) and, coupled with the picturesque environment, made it feel like a stay at a high-end luxury property (despite being the same price as the basic hotels in the same region I'd looked at before). Very highly recommended! I'll be coming back!
It was a great experience. The hotel is less then one hour far from the volcano national park and 20 min from Hilo. It's located in the forest and Irene is a great host. She gave us a lot of info, shared her experience in the island and helped giving us some rain jackets that we forgot. She is really adorable and I can only recommend to visit this place especially if u need to disconnect from your daily life. She even showed us her ukulele collection and prepared for us the fruit from her garden.
Location: So close to beach, hilo and vulcano national park Free Parking nearby Super spacious room with comfortable double bed Very friendly owner Least expensive private room on the whole island, maybe even in whole of state hawaii Kitchen fully equipped, Restrooms nice Nice sitting area outside, and hanging around makes fun too, super quiet to sleep. My favorite Hostel from now on, i would call the whole area with private rooms more like HOTEL instead of HOSTEL
A beautiful bungalow in a quiet street in Pahoa. Perfect for a solo or couple to relax and recharge. I felt extremely safe, and Abbie was a very welcoming and kind host. The bed was comfortable, the kitchenette and bathroom had everything I needed, and the place was well stocked and clean. The lanai was my favourite and I spent many hours reading and relaxing out there.
The hosts (Susan and Andre) were very helpful. They sent not only detailed driving directions and instructions regarding the property but also information about nearby beaches, stores, restaurants etc. Moreover, they refunded the deposit for the non-refundable booking that we had to cancel in 2020 because of Covid 19.
Perfect setting, with beaches and a hot spring nearby. The apt. was very private and had a tropical style, with access to a lawn for outside dinning or star gazing. The hosts were fantastic, very helpful.
The location of this property is good. The setting is beautiful - it is essentially in the jungle and close to Pahoa town. The location is good for getting to Volcano National Park.
It’s a cute and cozy unit. It was nice and clean. It’s not too far from Pahoa town. Allen and Dianne are wonderful people. They were so welcoming and so accommodating. Great stay!
Great stay. Many little things done well to make for a great experience. Raven's breakfasts and Mark's hand-drawn maps to cool spots are both the bomb. Hope to be back.
