Santa Cruz is a welcoming town of people from all over the world. The diversity you'll meet is fantastic and the people are so friendly. Our favorite family spots are the Boardwalk and kayaking off the wharf. We really enjoy the ease and ability to park and walk or take a bus or trolley to any destination. I love trying out the local places to eat and get coffee, and there are plenty to choose from. Our visits are never long enough, as we could have visited museums, the university's botanical garden and explored the rich history, along with all the natural beauty. There will always be more to see on each visit.
Love santa cruz, down town at night is always fun . Pizza my heart is always a must on my trip to Santa cruz, we tried out The Crows Nest for breakfast and they did not disappoint. I have 3 kids and we always go to the santa cruz beach boardwalk for rides and games. We also love hitting the beach at Rio del Mar in Aptos kids always like to see the cement ship. And if you like craft beer then beer thirty is always fun and kid friendly. They have a great outside area lots of picnic tables and lots of lighting.
All of the locals that we met were very friendly. We really enjoyed some of the smaller businesses in Santa Cruz and Capitola Village. The Boardwalk was fun, but be prepared to spend a lot of money! The arcade was amazing and kids of all ages will have a blast.
As a northern/central CA native I LOVE Santa Cruz. My husband and I were married at the Cocoanut Grove, we get season passes to the Boardwalk every year, and we enjoy shows at the Catalyst. We have 3 kids so we like to stay near the Boardwalk but drive into downtown for shopping or a nice meal. We splurge on a stay at Casablanca Inn which is lovely and charming, we keep it affordable and beachy when staying at Beachview or Aqua Breeze. We love the wharf, the Seymour discovery museum, Pleasure Point, or just having a family beach day. Ideal Bar & Grill is our go-to easy spot, Seabright Deli is our favorite place for lunch, and Twin Lakes state beach is always a special place for us.
I love Santa Cruz! The weather is amazing! The beach is very nice! There is always a lot of activities nearby to do. And it is very relaxing to listen to the ocean. The weekdays are very enjoyable and the weekends can be busy but very entertaining.
The Santa Cruz Boardwalk was so much fun for young & older folks! If you'll be there for 2 days, get the annual pass & save yourself some money--a bit of a discount to purchase online ahead of time. Bring your lunch or walk a few blocks from the Boardwalk for meals. The Boardwalk food is disgusting & extremely expensive. There are beautiful beaches & nice parks to visit near Santa Cruz. Roaring Camp Trains were fun & a short drive from Santa Cruz. We found a motel within walking distance of the Boardwalk that was discounted, about 1/2 of what the overpriced hotels were charging, so it was well worth it! Downtown is walkable with plenty of fun shops & restaurant choices. Perfect area for a nice family vacation.
For an older motel style hotel almost 60s style (typical Santa Cruz) this hotel is well maintained and was really a good find. The rooms have been maintained well, the location is very good, staff are good and it has a hot tub! The beds are very comfortable and good pillows provided. Coffee machine, fridge, micro all provided, nice touches. Arrived late and the manager was very nice, my near midnight arrival was not a problem. Make sure you know how to get here, I did not have a GPS and it is a bit "hidden" near the pier.
Santa Cruz
It was so easy to find. It was so close to everything. You can see everything!! Walking distance to everything. I didn’t even move my car and I stayed 4days. Staff was soooo nice. Everything was super clean I had no worries. Everyone in general was so nice in Santa Cruz. The big hotels not worth it. We got the family suit and it had the perfect view. My kids enjoyed it so much. What more could we have asked for.
Santa Cruz
We’d booked another hotel in Santa Cruz through Expedia (Best Western) and when we got there it was a filthy, moldy, stinky mess. I went online (on my phone) and booked a room through Booking.com at Ocean Pacific Lodge in 10 MINUTES!!! On a Saturday afternoon. In Santa Cruz. IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER!!! Booking.com and the Ocean Pacific Lodge saved our vacation!!! Thanks guys!
Santa Cruz
Staff was friendly and helpful! Room was small, but looks like it had been recently remodeled and was clean and comfortable. Location was great--close to the beach and easy to get around town. Price was good for the area. (Relatively expensive for this type of motel, but on the lower end for similar places in pricey Santa Cruz area.)
Santa Cruz
The quality and warmth of the welcome was amazing. I arrived without any plans, and was recommended great activities and places to eat / drink, not only in Santa Cruz but all of California. The house has a lot of charm too, and if you want to be close to the beach and boardwalk, the location is great!
There’s access to the beach (Natural Bridges State Beach) just about two miles away. The balcony was not expected, but definitely enjoyable for the fresh air. I stayed about a block away from my daughter’s place. That made the location of this Hotel, perfect for my visit to Santa Cruz.
Amazing staff, chic and comfortable rooms, great location, the grounds are gorgeous and the food at the restaurant… Was really good! Plus they stay open late if you’ve been out and about exploring Santa Cruz all day!! This will definitely be our go to hotel for the Santa Cruz area!!
Santa Cruz
This is such a great way to experience Santa Cruz. Our beach/ocean room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. They had complimentary coffee, tea and cocoa, and a wonderful swimming pool! I would not hesitate to stay here again!
Great hotel! The nicest, cleanest, and most modern one we’ve seen in Santa Cruz. A quick drive to the pier. The staff was nice and incredible too. I would come here again and again.
Great location. Poor value for the money but all hotels close to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz are very much overpriced for what you get (you are paying for location to the beach)
Rooms where clean and fully stocked. Loved the view from the balcony, they have beach access, so don't have to get out of the hotel and walk around it to get to the beach.
Great location, but the homeless problem in Santa Cruz is ridiculous, still the hotel manages to safeguard their property and the guests.
Santa Cruz
Excellent spacious clean room, convinient parking, nice and helpful reception manager. Higly recommed if you stop in Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz
Very clean little studio near a tiny dog friendly cove. Good place to stay and explore Capitola and Santa Cruz.
Always very clean, great family and staff that run it. One of my favorite hotels in Santa Cruz for the money.
the hotel ist quite near to downtown and other interesting spots.
I travel to Santa Cruz once a month and have stayed at many hotel-moteks. Fireside Inn is definitely the best for the price. Front desk clerk very professional and courteous. The low mark is a result of the ice and soda machines being broken. We look forward to returning for our next visit.
I liked the friendliness of the office personnel. The location of the hotel is perfect, walking distance to every thing around Capitola. I definitely recommend this place
Santa Cruz
The location was exceptional. The view from the room was mindblowing!
