Sequoia Park was beautiful! The Redwood Groves were definitely something to see! The only part that made me nervous were the parts of the road on the mountain that have no guard rails and steep drop offs...I know that is to be expected, however. Beautiful paved trails through Redwoods..General Sherman Tree and surrounding areas were beautiful!
The facility was a real Lodge experience. I did not enjoy the fare offered in the dining room, but the environs are so beautiful, I was in the mood to suspend my usually picky palate issues in honor of Mother Nature.
The setting is beautiful. There are activities for every age group. I'm 62 and really loved the archery! I enjoyed the atmosphere and different areas to choose to sit in the dining hall. The only negative was a very uncomfortable mattress. The staff were all very friendly!
The beauty is unmeasured, and wilder than other parks I've been to. Many hikes to choose from, many points of interest. Moro Rock, Big Trees Trail, Grant Grove and a day outing to Kings Canyon were the highlights. Wuksachi Lodge and Grant Grove both served delicious, hot, full dinners - make reservations! Those meals were a lovely cap to our days!
Montecito is spectacular for visiting, but plan to spend more than a day! We would love to have gone snow shoeing ($), sledding-free, but didn't plan the time correctly. We threw snow balls (hey, we're from Florida- don't laugh). We enjoyed meeting other people over the dinner which was provided (as was breakfast and lunch), as well as during "Happy Hour" where the full bar was available along with free wine and cheese tasting. The large hearth provided a warm, homey feeling, and people left early to put children to bed. So, even though our room was next to the stairs, we had little trouble sleeping. I wished I'd been able to connect to the free WIFI (others had no problem), and I would like to have had a TV in the bedroom. But, we slept well and woke afresh in time for the filing breakfast. We'll plan to spend more days there next time we come so we can enjoy the snow we don't get in FL.! We were lucky to get into the lodge, so plan ahead (6 months might be good).
This park was amazing. The sequoia cannot truly be described with words. We spent two days in the park hiking short, scenic trails. We already have planned a return visit next year. Recommend going in early fall when there are fewer people visiting.

Staff were excellent, very professional & courteous. Food was fantastic (all buffet meals). Location was ideal for access to both Kings Canyon & Sequoia Parks. Room was comfortable. This place is IDEAL for young families. Make sure you phone the park service for info on roads if you plan tom drive in during snow months, the Generals Highway can get closed off or you may need snow cables/chains for tyres.
