Located less than 3 km from the headquarters of Joshua Tree National Park, the Harmony Motel is a historic hotel built in 1958, and offers an outdoor pool and hot tub in a garden setting. The Manager Ash was friendly, room clean, amazing views. Very quiet hotel and relaxing time by the pool.
Twentynine Palms
Situated in Twentynine Palms in the California region, 28 Palms Ranch features accommodation with free private parking. Some units have a dining area and/or a patio. The luxury tent offers a barbecue.... It seems a bit far out of JT and will take ~20-30mins to drive to the main JT park, but once you get there you get peace and quiet. Maybe I hadn't read it properly, the yurt was a complete surprise. The bed was large and very comfy and very spacious inside. We didn't bother cooking on the BBQ, but it was great to build up a fire, drink a beer and chill in the evenings. We had a few cute mice join us by the fire and lucky enough to see a coyote at sun rise. Stay in Yurt 3 - Red door if you can - IMO the best views of the desert.

Nice little offshoot city in the desert, which has everything, Starbucks and such, but was still under COVID rules that were annoying. Lots of art and a visit to the Visitor Center in the main street is a must. Prices are normal and the Sattler Bros grocery store was a pleasant surprise.
Erin was a fantastic host who came out and gave us a friendly welcome and quick rundown of the yurt and amenities. The location is close to the highway, making it convenient to get to, but still has a rural feel. Everything was great for our one night stay, and very unique experience I’d definitely recommend. I was skeptical of the a/c working well enough with almost 40°C temperatures, but it was sufficient and we slept comfortably. The outside shower was awesome as well. Maybe not the warmest, but nice to freshen up after being in the desert heat all day. For $320 CAD (after taxes and fees) for our one night it was a little pricey, but definitely an experience we can check off the list. I’m telling you, the desert sunset/sunrise can’t be beat, and the beds were super comfy. 28 palms ranch was awesome!
The room was fine but the reservation got confused, I got overcharged and staff did not assist me to correct the problem. I had to have my bank sort it out. The common areas in the building were my room was located were not clean. The wood floors were covered with gritty. I believe this was because there were no carpets and no entry mats. I believe dirt got tracked in by foot traffic and doors to the stairwell were left open allowing the wind to blow in dust.
Clear night skies with bright stars, wildlife, quiet, serene, extreme weather conditions, spacious open areas, beautiful views, jack rabbits, cottontails, road runners, hummingbirds, bats, snakes,.ravens, scorpions, tarantulas, coyotes, barn owls, hawks, lizards, bald eagle, mountain goat, bobcat, woodpecker, turtle, dirt bikes, dune buggy, bbq, beer. A nice place to visit!
We spent a lot of time visiting family. So, riding go Karts, seeing the Marine Corps base, and visiting Joshua Tree. I would have definitely spent more time at Joshua Tree however, I didn’t wear the right shoes. Rib Co is a great place to eat dinner.. there was a gas station we went to a few times and the ladies that worked there were SO friendly! It’s a nice little/big town!
I booked one night for $130 including tax. When I was checking in the staff told me that it would be $170 plus. I showed her the confirmation email from booking.com with the correct price but she said her computer showed a different price. It took us more than an hour to check in and by then she still said she was trying to reach booking.com to verify the price. She also tried to charge me for early check in because we arrived at 2:30 instead of 3.. I told her that I spoke to the hotel earlier and the hotel agreed to have us check in as early as 1 without extra charge. The issues was not resolved until midnight that day. The whole experience was very frustrating since we have two young children with us. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
All the staff were wonderful- very helpful, polite and happy- and would always say hello, so we felt like very welcomed guests. The breakfast on Sunday was delicious & there was a good, varied selection- on Monday, there were fewer choices, but the standard was still excellent. It was lovely to have a small pool for a quick swim at the end of the day & to cool off from the sun. We also used the gym, which was basic but sufficient for a workout. The location is perfect to visit Joshua Tree National Park.
Twentynine Palms
Spotless, well maintained, delightful oasis in the midst of Twentynine Palms strip of traffic. Everything newly renovated. Shower great. Plenty of towels. Immaculate coffee maker, microwave, and decent size small fridge with freezer. Comfortable bed with soft linens and nice pillows. AC worked great and windows also opened for a nice breeze in the morning. Beautiful clean pool. Nicely landscaped property.
Nothing! All the photos shown were probably from the day this hotel opened! Nothing looks like what i saw, pool dirty, tiles broken, jacuzzi filthy, bathroom shower inside room dirty, walls with drips of who know what! Noisy, all night we heard people jumping and slamming things on floor, by far the worst night I’ve ever spend on a hotel!
Great location - it was on the main road, very close to restaurants and supermarkets, and also extremely close to Joshua Tree's North Entrance. The room was spacious and as pictured in the photos. There was also a restaurant in the hotel that looked nice but we ended up not eating there.
The room was very clean and attended daily to change towels, empty bins and clean the floor. Staff were super helpful and the pool and hot tub were great for relaxing after a hard days hiking. The hotel is great value basic accommodation.
