Versatility from food options to shopping to instant transport of multiple options to enjoy a day trip to nyc or hit casinos in AC. Musicals to museums, mussels to motza balls or malted shakes topped with cakes, you wont leave unsatisfied!
A bit of a jaunt from Manhattan but doable via bus. Cheap part of town (that's a plus): could go to the little convenience store and get a pint of beer for $1.50. Grocery shopping within walking distance. Fast food within walking distance. A very authentic neighborhood to experience. I never felt unsafe.
This place is just an alternate to staying in New York central. The New York clumsiness is not too good for tourist. This place is 15 minutes by road to central New York.it is accessible by train ,ferry and by road all under 20 minutes. Its pocket friendly
Lovely place, great mix of mainly south American eateries.burger king,7/11.lots of shops.easy access to buses for NYC and Hoboken.great parks along the waterfront within easy reach .great views of the city
Union city has everything you need to get by i.e. shops, a mcdonalds and a few gyms. It is a very densely populated city so in hot weather it can be pretty hard to stay out for a prolonged period of time. It seems almost all people there speak spanish, so it might be worth sharpening your spanish skills if you are planning on spending any more than a week or two there. Overall, not a bad place by any means, it is close to new york city and has a good bus service to and fro. Just bear in mind union city is a very crowded place and there's no reason why you can't enjoy yourself.
Location location location really works here. With a primarily Spanish speaking population and business hours not exactly geared towards selling (10 or 11 am to 8pm) there are many fast food restaurants and local eateries that are average at best. But only minutes through the Lincoln tunnel via bus at $3.25 to $3.50 one way can't be beat!
