Woodland has that great hometown feel. A nice town that you can live and work in or just come visit and enjoy all the sporting activities available. If you have time to drive up river you can take in the views of Mt. St. Helens, Lake Merwin and the Ape Caves. The lakeside park in town has a skatepark and a large playground. With areas for fishing, boat rentals and swimming. Woodland is home to many local farms that produce flowers and fruit for sale. There's also a country market just outside of town (East). Woodland has plenty of places to eat. From McD's, Taco Bell, DQ and Carl Jr's to several Mexican style restaurants and a couple Diners. Plenty of choices for your morning coffee fix too. Starbucks, Red Leaf and several mom & pop joints that are anxious to serve you. Do you like to shop? There are several quaint shops in town plus an Ace Hardware, Hi-School Pharmacy, Dollartree, O'Riley's and even a Walmart. So you can do all your shopping without having to leave town. Woodland is centrally located between Vancouver and Longview, WA along the I-5 corridor. If you are interested in casinos it is also about 5 miles from the new Ilani Casino in LaCenter, WA.
Quiet room, despite motel being at close to full capacity. Nice mini fridge/freezer, and great free make and serve yourself waffles. Pastries and hard boiled eggs would have made nice breakfast options. The room decor needs to be updated. It has a dark/dank look. Brighter wall color and updated bedding is much needed and would make a much more pleasant stay.
Woodland is a quaint little town. Lots of restaurants and stores. Plenty to do. The American Family Diner was wonderful! A must try place. The breakfast was large and inexpensive. The staff, especially Nate, was fun and friendly.
Great home base for exploring Mt St Helens, Ape Caves, etc. Didn't get to explore Woodland much but the old town area looks really cute. We had a great meal at the Old Town Grill. Fish and chips and the sirloin were both excellent. Food at Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant was just okay. Wouldn't recommend it.
As an small town it has not much to offer and we didn't expect it neither. Was a great surprise the Ice Cream-Pizza place close by that makes the best pizza I ever had!!..And the ice creams were ok but with huge portions (One scope equals three times of other places in Seattle). The people in this place were so nice and well mannered. The milkshakes there: Pretty great also!!.. We went to visit the Cedar Creek Grist Mill for photographic sessions there including night pictures (Milky way), staying one night at the hotel because of it. The front desk personnel didn't open the opportunity to talk about the touristic points there. And in town there is no touristic agencies/points of reference neither. I don't know if the Grist Mill is part of the city. But if the case, it should be promoted better as I didn't see too many people there on Saturday afternoon (8-10 cars the most). Night time photography starts getting more adepts and the Grist Mill could be an exploitable option to convince people to stay overnight in town. Some promotions should be done previous preparations of the set up, as the three lights around disrupt the possibility to take good pictures (There should be cero lights in the right spots for the pictures). Indicate (in the promotion) where the milky way could be seen, with pictures as samples could be an extra input well appreciated by donations if is the case.
Woodland is a great little town. People are friendly, Local merchants are eager to please. Head east on Lewis River road you will find the most beautiful views of Mt. St Helens, Lake views and there are so many side roads that twist throught the forest, new growth, old growth and ancient forest. Awe inspiering.
“It was in the right place. For being close to the freeway, it was quiet. Had some great restaurants that delivered for free! Front desk guy was nice!”
“This hotel was the best one we stayed at on our vacation. Great room, pool, hot tub and location.”
“We arrived after a long day of travel. Check-in was quick, room was clean and quiet. Pillows were comfortable which never happens at hotel.”
“Great little room. I got a room with a river view. The grounds are perfect. I don't think I would have enjoyed the other rooms as much because of the lack of view. Staff was great. The room was super clean. Friendly little town with great restaurants.”
“Clean, and great central location to Mt. St Helens, Portland, and the coast. Right off freeway. Front office staff was great. Also within walking distance to several restaurants, bars, and shops.”
