Cynthia is an excellent innkeeper who makes everyone feel welcomed. She has a very friendly dog who greets you every time you enter the house. Be aware that the two rooms share a bath room but that bath is quite large and has well-appointed fixtures. Also be prepared for a drive on a one-way bridge up a narrow road at quite a slope. My GPS did well finding the property but watch for curves and dips on the way up the hill to the inn.

Woodstock is a regular stop for us. Beautiful town, very walkable but beware of lack of restaurants and restaurant closings. Many are closed two to three days a week and many close early. Plan uour meals! Otherwise always something happening in town. Billings farm and museum is great. VINS nature center, hiking Mt. Tom and Mt. Peg, skiing Saskadena Six and wandering through the boutiques and art galleries, great fun.
The staff is incredibly rude and treated us like we were bothering them. I called to confirm our reservation and the front desk clerk assured me I had made a mistake and must have booked a lesser hotel with the same name in another state. Absolutely unbelievably rude. We booked through a third party site and when I pushed he found our reservation. The rudeness and snippy attitude continued when we checked in. We were tired from driving and we’re greeted with a nasty face and the front desk acted like it was beneath them to check us in. The entire trip continued like this. Lovely facility but the people that work there need an attitude adjustment. It’s not hard to smile or be friendly and welcoming. I’ve traveled all over the world and learned kindness goes a long way. Shame on you Woodstock Inn. Hire some happy people.
We enjoyed the shops, food hospitality wherever we went and the feel of this beautiful area..we had an amazing dinner at The Prince And The Pauper our second night in town…everywhere we went we had a lovely dining experience … sat by the fire at the Inn, and had an after dinner cocktail which was lovely. There are not enough words to describe our stay from our wonderful Inn and the Inn keepers who did everything possible to make our stay an amazing experience with wonderful details and attending to our every wish…
We visited at the height of the fall season and Woodstock was packed with visitors and was essentially a car park! For us the shops offered nothing particularly of interest, tourist based souvenirs in the main. Restaurants were very busy, no walk ins, need to book well in advance which we did.
What a stunning town! Although my stay was off-season (the end of April), I'd love to see Woodstock either in leaf-peeping season or during winter - it must be amazing Woodstock is super easy to navigate - there just aren't that many streets! While I was too busy with a conference to do much shopping, I did make a point to visit Queechee Gorge and the Antique Mall complex in Queechee. The Toy Museam (on Heather's suggestion) was a fun blast from the past for this tail-end Boomer. For a fabulous picnic, grab a sandwich or salad and some yummy dessert (maple creme brulee?_ from the Farmer's Market and head to East Side Park to watch the river run by :-).
Woodstock is the quintessential Vermont village. Lovely old homes in a classic New England setting, including spired churches, small locally owned retail shops and restaurants. Friendly locals, and amazing countryside. They are in close proximity to a number of first-rate ski resorts and equestrian facilities, as well as local biking, hiking, cross-country and snowshoeing options. A great location for a variety of activities, or just to kick back and enjoy the great outdoors and recharge!
