Located on the main avenue, 328 feet from the beach, Valizas Hostel offers free Wi-Fi and breakfast in Rocha. A garden, solarium, and BBQ facilities are featured. The bus stop is 984 feet away. The common area is amazing. The breakfast has a lot of fruit and that's wonderful.
Located in Barra de Valizas, Complejo Sol de Valizas offers self-catering apartments with a lovely garden, only a 5-minute walk from the beach. The kitchen worked well for 2 people, and the location near the market and close enough to the beach was convenient. The host was very nice (Spanish only, but we were able to communicate enough) and helpful.

Located in Barra de Valizas, 2297 feet from Playa Barra de Valizas, Hostel Lo de Milton provides accommodations with free bikes, free private parking, a shared lounge and a garden. Milton was so kind, generous and helpful. we ate dinner together and the next day he brought me to their other hostel in Cabo Polonio.
I stayed in Barra de Valizas mainly to walk to Cabo Polonio the day after. Barra de Valizas does not have a lot of charm, even though there appears to be lots of nice people there. If you want to go to Cabo Polonio, you should get off the bus at the Puerto Polonio shuttle bus stop and take the first shuttle over the dunes to the Cabo and stay overnight there.
Nice beach, as the city is small there is not too much people so you can relax. As most beaches in Uruguay it winds a lot! Prepare for cold at night ;) You can also go to Cabo Polônio on a 2h walking.
I ve actually moved to a different hostel...which belongs to the same owner...called the nomades... because I need an electric plug for my netbook to get some work done during the week...so i am still in Valizas...and it is one of these places....u just want to stay... for good..really... it has a very special vibration.... the food I had in various places was just great and not overprized... .. I am very much enjoying to be here...
Valizas is (with Cabo Polono, Agua Dulce and otter) one of the smallest villages on the uruguayan coast. So if you look for more laid back places it's perfect. It's full of beautiful houses. But the best part of it is the beach environment: Closeby is a beautiful small desert with sand dunes, which you can cross on the way to Cabo Polono, which takes you about 4 hrs. We enjoyed this walk a lot!
