Asian Tradition, French Flair and Growing Modernity
Offering a trip through delicious Vietnamese aromas, small silk shops and ancient pagodas, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City dazzle tourists with their vibrant atmosphere. Its rich culture includes beautiful French colonial palaces mixed with modern skyscrapers that show the power of Vietnam’s economic capital.
Whether you decide to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall, or the Municipal Theatre, you’ll see the care shown by Saigonese people in preserving their historic legacy. On the other hand, the Haussmann-style boulevards are typically packed with small motorcycles that make every street crossing a whole new experience.
Contemporary Saigon can be seen in places like the Bitexco Financial Tower, located directly at central Ham Nghi Blvrd. Meanwhile, Saigon Centre or Zen Plaza are some of its modern shopping malls.

Saigon is a stunning city with brilliant street food.
Saigon is a stunning city with brilliant street food.
It is growing rapidly.
Downside- appalling traffic chaos and virtually no safe pavements.. as this is motorbike central.. they even ride on pavements.

Cool destination for a short vacation, much to explore than seeing, enjoying the warm reception by the local population and service providers. Very safe to move around with fearing about safety of person and belongings. Vibrant city at Walking street in the night too.

Speedboat trip from District 1 peer to Cu Chi Tunnels was fantastic and cut-out sitting on a hot bus for several hours. 50kph up the Saigon river for approx. 1 hour, breakfast on boat and beautiful lunch in restaurant following guided tour of tunnels, then 1 hour blast back downstream. Total excursion is approx 5 1/2 hours and well worth the money.

The humidity in Saigon is much less than Hanoi / North Vietnam, so I was more comfortable here than there. In general HCMC is a big , noisy city with tons of traffic. I think you would need a few weeks to really "find" HCMC but I dont think I want to spend that much time there. Apart from the humidity I prefer Hanoi of the 2 biggest cities in Vietnam.
The War Remants Museum is a sad but interesting place to visit.

Saigon does not have many characteristics like some other cities, but it is the greatest eating place on earth for me. The coffee may be strong for some foreigners, but the best for me. Lucky, did not get much rain or flooding. The heat was OK in late October.

We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the City.
We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the City. We do not care about the air pollution and the traffic noise of the motorcycles. It was difficult to cross streets due to there were no traffic lights for pedestrians.
We enjoyed the trip to the tunnels to witness the wartime Vietnamese defense strategy and apparatus.
We won't recommend the Mekong Delta trip. It was a 4-hour round trip drive, but there was not much to see except the candy factory and the channel ride and to hear some local singing and fruit tasting.

Really excellent little hotel tucked away in the centre of district 1, only a 5 minute walk from the Opera House, City Hall and Square. The staff went out of their way to make us feel settled in and gave us a complementary cold drink on arrival (which was appreciated after our long journey!). Very clean and comfortable room that was nice and surprisingly quiet given the location,
I recently stayed at Vilion Boutique Hotel in District 1 and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a vintage theme, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stylish and comfortable stay in Ho Chi Minh City.
Well located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City district 1. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
Our room was comfortable, spacious and really clean and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Breakfast was really nice. Excellent value for money and would totally recommend it!
Great location in District 1 in the heart of the city and tourist attractions! The hotel is comfortable and clean and includes breakfast although I did not try it as I got up too late most mornings! The staff are all very friendly, polite and very helpful!
Nice location, center of HCMC, there is 24hr convenience store as well next the hotel. Walkable distance to go around district 1 to sightseeing the city. Daytour accepted to pick us from this hotel. Spacious room, unique interior
