Homestay with the locals of the island. Very basic accomodation but decent. No mosquito nets, so bring your own with you. The family serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with what their land produces, so bring your own groceries if you have specific needs. No restaurants, farmacies or ATMs around. This is a great place if one would like to live along the Tanna village people for a few days. Very friendly family!

Everything! We’ve been travelling nonstop for 3.5+ years so we’ve stayed in our fair share of places! Sam, Mike and Lena are SO AMAZING! The hospitality of Philip, Susan and their sons was absolutely incredible. They were so gracious with their time without being over bearing on your privacy. This is the spot to stay when checking out the volcano side of Tanna. You will have everything you need to see the vanuatu culture from the perfect location. For reasonable rates, the hosts will take care of any other logistic you need. -Set up the 2 hour car ride to and from the airport. -Local recipe dinners by Susan and she’s a great cook. I believe they offered lunch as well but I was going on these great adventures they offer to guide you through: -A local village that will show you dances and rituals of their indigenous culture -A hot spring heated river that flows into the ocean overlooking the volcano -And of course, the hike to the rim of the volcano. I had so much time to chat with the family and they are all so kind. I don’t leave reviews, I was very compelled on this one. Stay in this treehouse. Friendly reminder to grab cash and break it down in Port Vila or at the market in Tanna.

As we were travelling on a budget and keen to meet the locals Alofa Beach bungalows was the perfect balance of comfort and friendly hospitality. Simple, relaxing and authentic looking bungalows with ensuite, running water and hot showers. The host were lovely and ready to help with whatever we needed. The food was nice. Pancakes for breakfast :) The bungalows are near a long stretch of coral strewn beach typical of Vanuatu and close to the local village. Perfect alternative to the resorts if you're after a more authentic experience.

The staff was very helpful and friendly and the setting lovely. This locally run resort is an unsophisticated comfortable choice conveniently located near to the airport.

The property owners are wonderful. They arranged airport transfers and tours of the local attractions. They provided excellent meals and were wonderful hosts. The location is remote, but the stay included a delicious breakfast, and lunch/dinner were available. The rooms had a great view.

Located at Ipak Bay, North Tanna, Rockwater Resort features a private beach and landscaped gardens. Return airport transfers are included upon request from the property.

The owners Silvana and John, as well as the staff always gave five star service. My wife who was not feeling well, was attended to by Silvana and she even had medication‘s flown in for the next day. The property is sensational from the lush landscape to the well appointed cave like rooms were enchanting. I have dove and snorkel in many places around the world. Rock Waters marine preserve right off their property equal. The best I have ever been to consider considering cuisine can be a challenge on Tanna Rock water chefs presented every single meal that was absolutely delicious. I cannot say enough about Rock Water resort. Thank you again Jon and Silvana.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings! A rustic small resort that has stunning sea views and basic bungalows. Perfect for budget tavellers. Tom and his family were very hospitable. We fell in love with this place.
