Barrier Beach House offers accommodation in Saraotou, 20 minutes' drive from Santo Pekoa International Airport. This beachfront property features an on-site restaurant. The resort is located 14km from town, on the east coast. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. The beach was great for swimming, kayaking and snorkeling. Bikes are available for free, so you can explore the island. Drivers are very respectful so it is safe to ride on the main road. The staff was amazing!!! The owners, Calvin and Julie, were very friendly and made us fell like at home. All the staff at the hotel were very nice and friendly, the service was 10/10. Food at the restaurant was very yummy! Loved the tranquility and atmosphere!!!
Luganvilla Business Hotel and Restaurant offers accommodation in Luganville. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Each room includes a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. I like the fact that the staff were kind and always happy to assist the guests. The owner was also available to chat with his guests so that was very nice.
Offering free Wi-Fi and free continental breakfast, The Espiritu is located in the heart of Luganville, just 5 minutes' walk from shops, cafes and dive centres. Luganville is an underdeveloped area and the hotel is not in the best location as it is in the middle of the Main Street without any natural beauty around. That being said, The hotel was clean and comfortable and the food and staff were amazing. Hands down the best customer service in all of Vanuatu and the Thai food they served would be good if it was served in Bangkok.
Situated in Luganville, Aore Breeze offers beachfront accommodation 2.5 km from SS President Coolidge and features various facilities, such as a restaurant, a bar and a private beach area. Wonderfully comfy, carefully designed and good quality bungalows, the feel of exclusivity. Just sitting on the balcony with a drink (bring your own, there's good fridge in your kitchen but no bar in the resort!) is already a great experience, not to mention if you do that at sunrise or sunset. The coral reef on your doorstep offers good snorkeling, although the sea can be a bit rough on windy days. Free use of new kayaks. István is a great host, very nice and friendly person who is great to chat with and also a valuable source of information on activities. His attention to detail is evident not only from the quality of the bungalows, but also from the wide range of information provided in your room upon arrival (from the history of Aore island to activities and tide times). He'll take good care of you, may it be your boat transfer from Luganville or round the island trip on Aore.
Island View Cottages offers holiday homes with a garden, set on Aore Island, in the Sanma Province. The cottage has a kitchen with an oven, a fridge and a stovetop. Fantastic facilities on a gorgeous property with its own beach. Loved the bike rides around the island and the Freshwater plantation tour and food and snorkeling beach. Aklid and Tony were so welcoming and always happy to help.
Set on a private and secluded tropical island, this beachfront resort offers guests free ferry transfers to and from Espiritu Santo. Aore is a beautiful resort, with bungalows perfectly laid out to give everyone privacy and their own little slice of beach. The Nakamal is a lovely open air dining room, where it’s easy to get to know other guests. The restaurant is extremely reasonably priced, with good selection and delicious food! We took leftovers home almost every night. All the staff at Aore are wonderful! The snorkelling and paddle boarding off the beach is great, and we saw a few cool fish and rays. It was also nice to have a fridge in our room to have a cold drink on our own patio at the end of the day!
Make sure you visit the blue holes and in particular, Nanda. Million Dollar Point, Port Olry and Champagne Beach are all well worth a visit also. The coconut crab and Santo beef at Port Olry were delicious. We caught taxis to get around and found this relatively cheap and easy. The Mount Hope Waterfall tour is something not to be missed. It was an "out of this world" experience and one that I will never forget.
Although it is a bit out of town, you feel completely away from it all. This is a perfect stopping point on the east coast - there are 3 blue holes a matter of minutes away from one another, beautiful islands and bays for snorkelling and kayaking, and great accomodation. The highlight for us was Turtle Bay Guest Home, where you can have a bungalow on the beach complete with barbeques, kayaks and SUP offerings. The only bad thing is that food options are very limited - we ended up cooking ourselves most of the time, but the best option is the Turtle Bay Lodge for dinner by the water.
