Located in Prince Albert, 200 metres from Fransie Pienaar Museum, Mont d'Or Swartberg Hotel provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a fitness centre and a garden.

There’s a lot to be said for a rambling old Victorian hotel with Oregon pine floors and high ceilings. This is the Prince Alfred we were looking for.

Totally exceeded my expectations. Lovely clean room with beautiful furnishings, super-comfy bed. Good wifi, excellent 'proper' coffee and the most delicious rusks! Johan was wonderful, as was his team. Loadshedding wasn't an issue at all, as it just went straight onto his back up power. Really hope I can visit again soon.

The way they growing the bougainvillea against the wall of the house. The reception and hospitality that the owners showed towards us. They are very friendly and we loved chatting to them and listening to their stories.

The cottage was lovely and very clean. The bed was really comfy. It was our best sleep of our trip! Riaan was very friendly and helpful! The dogs were so sweet and cute! It is far the best we ever had in this area. It is very spacious. And it is equipped with everything you might need. Restaurants and the town center are just around the corner. Also very quiet.

Wonderful little town tucked away in the heart of the Karoo.

Wonderful little town tucked away in the heart of the Karoo. Very arty, lots of small shops, within an hour's ride of Meiringspoort - a must see. Plenty of really great accommodation to choose from, B&B, self-catering, hotel, etc. An olive farm about 10k down a relatively good farm road - also worth a visit. Otherwise it just makes you want to wind down, take it easy and enjoy the ambiance of a little Karoo town that brings back another era.

There were a lot of coffeeshops and restaurants to choose from. We had delicious hamburgers from one of the places, and we loved the Saturday morning market, which had plenty of parking spots, and is in the main street. There is quite a lot of art about, and the houses are beautifully restored and full of character. The museum is interesting, and some gardens had the most beautiful roses in bloom.

Two days is sufficient to see the local attractions e.g olive farms, winemaker, restaurants etc We ate at the local hotel and the food was good and reasonably priced. Some restaurants were pricey and we avoided them. Getting around the small town is easy. From November to February would be uncomfortably hot in this Karoo town.

There is so much to do in Prince Albert.

There is so much to do in Prince Albert. Many little coffee shops and restaurants - even a winery in the middle of town. We loved the cheese from the dairy and we loved our visit to Karoo Looms. You need at least half a day to visit the Swartberg Pass which was amazing. We packed a picnic and enjoyed that at the bottom of the pass next to the river.

Lovely town with manny hidden gems like the Karoo Kombuis and the Black Smith @ the weavery serving samosas and traditional Cape Maly Koesisters. Be aware that Prins Albert does have a very high unemployment rate. You will be approached more than once by locals during your stay.

such a beautiful little town with the most wonderful friendly people! we loved Simply Saffron for their holistic treatments and yoga, for dinner we enjoyed the rude chef - our dinner was good wholesome cooking which felt like home and the welcome and conversation with the owner was delightful. artworks and little shops were a delight, the market was amazing with wonderful fresh produce. For those who love the outdoors and beauty of what nature has to offer, this is most definitely the town to visit. We cant wait to return for a longer stay to do all the other attractions we weren't able to do.
