We loved our welcome by Eunice and her crew and they way that they looked after us for the 6 peaceful days we spent there. This included a chocolate cake for our son's birthday! The view is breathtaking and the animals are wonderful. The house we stayed in was perfect for us and had all the creature comforts. We even had the services of their canoe on the beautiful dam that is just around the corner.

Riversdale has more to offer than people assume if they are just driving through. We loved the Ikigai Artisanal Coffee Shop and also a good old fashioned night-cap in the historic Royal Hotel’s bar. The town also boasts a wine farm with tastings, and a number of bistros and cafes. It is also proximate to many popular seaside locations, all within a few kms’ drive, while still being affordable!
Well it’s a small town so I wasn’t really expecting anything out of this world, people are friendly there, nice Mountain View and it’s very safe , one thing I didn’t like is that the Town sleeps early lol.
Riversdale is a convenient stopover, about three hours from Cape Town on the N2, it is a small town with an interesting history, friendly farming community with good value restaurants and coffee shops. There is a 9 hole golf course we visited for a light lunch and drink and a nearby pass called Garcia pass. Once you pass Heidelberg, 20 min before Riversdale, you can leave the N2 and drive a very picturesque route on good dirt roads passing a stunning lake to arrive in Riversdale. The old jail in Riversdale has been converted into a home industry shopping venue and coffee shop. An amazing find for us was the butchery called JC Slagtery which has amazing biltong and dry wors as well as great value and quality meat, fillet R140/kg. De Doornkraal is a good place to stay, old historical building with good service and food as well as comfortable accommodation.
We loved everything about this place. The location was just perfect, out in the mountains above Riversdale, where peace and quietness was game. Waking up in the morning, overlooking their stock of Springbokkies. We did a 3 hours hike on their own property, which was amazing! And in the evening we got to enjoy the cookingskills of our lovely host, Linda! Special thanks to the activitymanager, Eben, who made us feel so at home.

This is a charming old style boutique hotel that is clean and well maintained. Lovely gardens ,Nadia seems to do everything, from reception ,manager, waitress etc- Well Done . Breakfast was good - similar to most South African B&B . Sad to see that other things had slipped.
Very comfortable night's sleep, excellent shower, lovely breakfast. Hostess Suzette is right on her game, and the staff we met were top notch. Quite fun staying just a few kays out of town (Riversdale) ... no angst regarding parking, security etc. Thank you, Lalani.
The setting was beautiful. Spacious accommodation, comfortably furnished, welcoming gifts. Only 5 minutes away from Riversdale by car. Lovely breakfast. Ronald was exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend this beautiful farm setting..
