The 4-Star Protea Hotel Kruger Gate provides guests with great-value accommodations. Half-board is included and children under 12 stay for free with parents. Amazing experience, perfect location and the included breakfast and dinner were best I've had, better than an expensive paid buffet. Spot on.
Located in the exclusive Elephant Point Estate, bordering the Kruger National Park, Elephant Point offers villa accommodations within 16 mi of Skukuza Airport. Amazing places. Super nice view. Everything is perfect, we could stay more longer but our schedule is done !! All rooms are very confortables, the pool, balcon, living room and rooms look outside the park and river. Voucher Wifi is provided enough for all of us. All you need for kitchen .....is there, we got also a very good coffee, the super Mark is not near by, But Mrs Megan informed us already advance, so we had organised before. Thanks so much, and we will back again.
Rhino Post Safari Lodge offers luxury accommodations located in the southern end of a 12000 hectare private wilderness concession in Kruger National Park. Excellent location and services all around. The guides were very knowledgeable about everything : animals, plants, birds. Superb dinning in the middle of the forest. About 20 elephants were just 100m away across the river during the breakfast on the terrace... I'll come back
Mananga Private Bush Retreat is a villa located in Skukuza, 8.4 mi from Skukuza Rest Camp and 13 mi from the Paul Kruger Gate to Kruger National Park. Guests benefit from terrace. EVERYTHING! From our first communication with Monique to our face-to-face check-in with Josie, our stay was more than we expected! The bed was SUPER COMFORTABLE and the views from our bed and from the living area allowed us to see the zebras (including a baby zebra), a wildebeest, kudu, impalas and of course, the baboons. They arranged golf for my husband and then a private safari with PK Safaris, Arno as our guide (AWESOME as well!!)
Located on the banks of the Sabie River and bordering Kruger National Park, Lodge 23 is a luxurious Moroccan-styled villa. It offers a deck with game viewing opportunities. Fantastic property, the last one on a huge compound of different villas at Elephant Point. It overlooks the Sabie river and during our 2 days stay we saw several families of elephants crossing and just feeding in front of our house while we enjoyed a dip in the pool. They also have zebras and impalas walking freely around the compound. It is approximately 15-20 min drive to the Paul Kruger gate, very convenient. The design of the house is breathtaking, the photos do not do it justice, attention to detail incredible, it has everything you could possibly need for a luxurious self catering accommodation. The staff were very caring, made sure we did not get lost on our way there and when going for their lovely boma dinner. We had our own huge private boma, the pool was very clean and the cleaning staff came every morning. It has many basic necessities such as different kinds of coffees (Nespresso), teas, all sorts of spices, flours, salt, pepper, etc. We only wish we could have stayed longer as the villa was like a home you dream about.
Rhino Walking Safaris is in the Kruger National Park, the largest game reserve in South Africa, and offers an unrivaled wilderness and wildlife experience. Incredible guide (Andre) for walking Safari. Learned so much and saw much more thank driving Safari. Amazing to be in a luxury tent with luxury old world furniture and shower. Very private. Incredible staff.
Walkways along river front are super Books and maps in shops are very helpful, and in some instances are available in several European languages Catering is often struggling to cope with large numbers of visitors at some times of the day. Toilets not as well maintained as they should be-taps,doors,locks etc need a good plumber and carpenter.
Skukusa is a great place in the wonderful surroundings of the Kruger Park. If you have the nerve you should play golf at Skukusa Golf Club where there are no fences and you could be teeing off over warthogs, hippos and crocodiles. It is a unique experience.
It was a year of unseasonably dry weather which made game viewing easier in that the vegetation was not as high, but you had to really know where to go to find the animals and where the water holes were located. Luckily, we had a great "Safari" driver/guide who enabled us to see so many animals, including the Big 4. We saw elephants mating in the pools, painted dogs leaving the area of a new lion kill, 4 lions feeding on a baby elephant killed earlier in the morning, a crocodile lunge up and out of the water and grab a bird and then take it back under, and so much more. Kruger never gets old and we've been there 6 times, but this was the best ever, and I believe it is because we hired a guide for the first time ever.
