A beautiful location with a peri urban feel. Somerset West is close to a host of scenic spots in the Helderberg Region, Winelands, and the Overberg. Family friendly locality and superb restaurants and many other conveniences.
Have very good friends in SW which adds to our enjoyment. Easy to get to many wonderful places in the Cape Winelands including Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Simondium, Paarl, Wellington, Hemel and Aarde Valley near Hermanus. There are many amazing restaurants in these areas. The scenic coastal drive to Hermanus is particularly magnificent (many beaches along the way, Rooi Els is highly recommended). SW very central to explore Western Cape, It is also close to the airport and only about half an hour to Cape Town but definitely more chilled.
Great starting point to the beach, wine routes (Stellenbosch, Paarl or Franschoek) or malls and restaurants and with Uber readily available in the area you don't need your own vehicle to go anywhere.
Somerset West is a quiet, safe, and beautiful town that is centrally located for trips to Cape Town, vineyards, wine tastings, botanical gardens, exceptional cuisine, Cape Point, and other activities such as whale watching in Hermanus, penguin viewing at Stony Point and Boulders Beach, and Chapman’s Peak drive.
We spent 3 relaxing days in Somerset West with easy access to Strand, Stellenbosch and Cape Town. We really enjoyed the freedom of being able to do a roubd trip and visit all these places in one go. The accomadation that we stayed at Country Home which is managed and owned by Desire Crowther was excellent. Being a homestay some might feel that they are intrusive being in a private home. At no time dis we feel that we were intrusive and Desire went out of her way to assist us and was very, very accomodating. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable and the whole atmosphere and decor of the home is above standard and luxurious. While there are many other places in and around the area were you can stay I would personally highly recommend staying with Desire at her beautifull home, except for the fact that it is very cost affective, you might end up being lucky enough walking away with a beautifull piece of contemporary art done by Desire who is an artist par excellance...... obviously at a price!!! Do yourself the favour and visit Somerset West and definately visit with Desire.
Somerset West is a very quite place. I believe meant for someone who are looking for a well-rested holiday. Somerset West Mall is always the center of attraction, and I must for any visitor to the town. All needs for my family are found, within the vicinity of walking distance.
You hardly find a more perfect place to stay in Somerset West. Very comfortable and luxurious rooms with all the amenities you can think of. Huge lounge, bar and pool area. Free WiFi, safe parking, lovely neighbourhood, great breakfast. The extremely friendly staff, especially Mercy, John and Manager Ed went out of their way to respond to any wish we had. Three great nights at SW1, we'd be more than happy to return. Definitely a 10/10.
My first compliments has to go to Sarah and her husband. They are excellent hosts. They received us with a smile and a warm handshake/hug which made us feel as if We never left home. There is absolutely no possible way I can list all pro/positive comments/likes about this place as everything was perfect. I will not look at any other hotel/accommodation when visiting Somerset Wes again.
The guest house owner, Loma, was amazing. From the greeting, as well as very thoughtfully bringing us umbrellas as the summer rain bucketed down makes you admire the level of service given to absolutely ensure that your stay is comfortable. Really impressed and would recommend Covenent Well Guest house to anyone looking for some peace and quiet close to the beaches, but not too far out of cape Town.
Jeff and Marianne made us feel at home long before we even landed in Cape Town international. This place is a gem if you’re looking for a relaxing atmosphere, safe environment, a great breakfast with plenty of choices (and chocolates!) and really friendly and helpful hosts. They handled dinner reservations, booked a wine tour guide, and gave excellent advice on other tours I had planned.
What a lovely place! Different from the usual boring hotel or resort. The view on Somerset West is breathtaking and the entire farm is kept like a jewel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are cozy, bathroom is very clean. There are just very few guests at the time, so chances that you can sit in front of the fire in the living room all on your own with some good wine are big :)
We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very privat, because it has only 3 rooms. The rooms are very lovely with great attention to detail. Mario is extremly comitted to make you feel at home. Upon the check-in, he gave us a small tour through the premises. The breakfast in the romantic garden is the best we had on our trip. We will definitely come back again.
Our accommodations, guest house and grounds, breakfasts, location, and our hosts Johan and Jo-Anne were exceptional in every way and far exceeded our expectations. Johan and Jo-Anne were very personable, knowledgeable in a great number of subjects, extremely helpful, and greatly enhanced our overall experience in and around Cape Town.
Have stayed in many hotels all over the world. There is something that makes this place stand out from the rest. It wasn’t about the decor , excellent service, great breakfast buffet ior attention to detail. There was a warmth and caring and an ambience that I can’t quite describe. Couldn’t fault it.
Wonderful location, property and hosts. Every effort had been made to consider the guest and the property and views over Somerset West were nothing short of spectacular. Breakfast was delicious and we were made to feel so welcome. Thank you for your hospitality!
Vrede is a lovely, self-catering stay close to the vineyards near Somerset West. The hosts were very communicative and ensured that we had a comfortable stay. The property is located in a beautiful nature reserve of sorts. I would highly recommend.
Fantastic staff, nothing was too much for them - we needed a shirt ironed and it was done with a smile. From the hotels immaculate indigenous gardens and beautifully decorated spaces to the friendly and efficient staff.
Beautiful hotel with a heated pool.Staff were all friendly and helpful and made you feel at home. Would definitely recommend this spot for a weekend escape from the city close to some of the top wine farms.
This was the best self catering accommodation I have ever stayed at, will definitely go back and recommend them to my friends and family. The staff were very friendly and helpful
The hotel is truly lovely and even the spacious rooms. The room service, meals and breakfast was out of this world amazing
The spacious self catering accommodation was indeed very open and it suited our purposes incredibly well.
The privacy and serenity of the establishment makes a trip to Cape Town/ Somerset West worthwhile.
Beautiful, spacious and comfortable self catering flat.great location with quick and easy check in
We were greeted very warmly upon arrival and the hospitality didn't stop there. Our host asked about our plans and then offered suggestions based on our likes of things in the area we should try! She then followed up with us to find out how things were going and to see if we needed anything. She was very accommodating and extremely helpful throughout our stay! The location was perfect for us, as my friend lived in the area. We would absolutely stay here again!!
The sound of the wind in the tree tops was all we could hear... What a wonderful property! Lalapanzi means ‘lie down’ in Ndabele.... we did just that!
Friendly Owners, Very Welcoming, Warm Hearted, Always Willing to help, Service was Excellent, Property well maintained by the Owner
